So you had a tough duck season?

Postby MSDuckmen » Mon Jan 28, 2002 9:09 pm

So you had a tough season? So What?

You were not alone.

I know what you mean… Last years total for our members was over a thousand birds while this year it was less than 500.
The season took its toll on us and I called it quits after Sundays hunt. All in all it was a grand year. I hunted places that I never thought of hunting before. Tried many different techniques and learned more about ducking than I thought I was capable of learning.
It was a season of hard knocks. It takes a season like this to bump us down a notch or two. It was nature’s way to remind us that she is still in control. My hands are chapped beyond belief and I just wanted to let you boys know I’m back and to let the debate begin.

I wanted to post these here pictures of the bands I got this year, This was one of those seasons, I look forward to telling you over the next few months some of our outing and just how screwed up a veteran duck hunter can be once things change that you can’t understand.

This next picture is one I took early in the AM sitting in our layout blind in the middle of a cotton field.

Is that not just the greatest thing. God in all his glory?

People that wake up to the morning rush hour never see sites like this.

This my friends is why I have devoted my life to this sport.

Hey Duckman, I've been chaseing them quackers
for 28 years and those easy seasons everybody
can shoot a limit. But those tough years is
what makes a true DUCKER. I'am in agrement with several people on this site that on a
sunday morning you don't have to be in church, to be in touch with God.

Your second pic shows that.

It wasn't the worst season I've ever had, but it was in the bottom 3. Last season in over 30 days, killed around 135 ducks. This season, 32 days, 32 ducks. Limited out twice, then the rest were 0-3 ducks a day. Just too much water and no ducks this season. I knew I was in for a bad season when I wasn't getting any ducks into a field that was full of headed out millet.

Duck Nawtek,
Ya got me mixed up with that bunch of mis-fits that work with scott.

I'm not one of those.. This mis-fit works somewhere else......

And as for shooting a banded hen, Yea I popped her. Two in one shot, But ya can bet the drake fell too.. hehe

I paid for that hen 100 times over with all the grief I took from that bunch at Scotts.

Can of worms is fine by me it will be fishing season soon

Thanks Guys, It is a cool picture and I have a bunch more coming your way.

MSDAWG have at it bud, you are welcome to post it on your download page. I have already sent it to Ms Outdoors Magazine, David Watts and I go back a few years and maybe he'll like it enough to print it.
