Hunters missing, presumed drowned
I just got through reading a story in my local paper about five hunters in Wilkinson County around woodville had an accident with their boat and two of the five are still missing. It also read that the authorities found the boat in about 80 feet of water while dragging the bottom. Anyone else know about this?

Hunters missing, presumed drowned
It is true. It happened on Lake Mary. It is around Fort Adams. 3 survived 2 drowned. A girl that works with me told me about it this morning. It was one of her boyfriends friends from high school. If she hears anything else I'll keep ya posted.
It could happen to any of us!!!

It sankin 80 feet of water.
this is from paper Quote"The hunters' fiberglass boat was discovered in about 80 feet of water Wednesday by authorities who were dragging the lake."
this is a very tragic event. Everyone please be safe. I don't know what the max limit was on this boat but Five grown men in a 15 foot boat is a load.

There were five black guys going coon huntin. On the news they said they were in a 14 foot boat with a weight limit of like 400 hundred pounds. The oxbow was white-capping and they said the current may have pulled them under.

That is a tragedy, but you have to wonder what they were thinking to put 5 guys in a boat.

It was 5 guys going coon hunting on a 200 acre private island between the chutes. (don't know if they had permission) It was also around 3 in the morning. The three with life jackets floated to shore, the two without didn't make it. They are still looking for the dog too. The lake was whitecapping, haven't heard anything about the boat being in 80 foot of water, although I know they had exceeded the weight standard considerably. Let's just pray that we have all have a safe rest of the season.

My father drowned because he did not have his life jacket on. During the 12 days we were searching the lake for him we recovered 3 of the 5 life jackets that he always kept in the boat. He was from the school that they made better seat cushions than anything else. I for one wont get back in a boat without one on. It is a very chilling experience to stand on the bank and pray that the next search boat has recovered your father's body and to still have faith that he is safe somewhere in one of the cabins on the lake and you have just not found out which one yet. It is a situation that I hope no one else ever has to go through.

TreblA,
You have my deepest sympathies! If anything positive can come out of that is that your story reminds me how necessary a vest is. I'm sure it will get others to rethink it too, which surely will save some lives.

This is a true tragedy. I was at Lake Mary last week and it is almost totally secluded from the wind. I have never seen it get really bad. Steel shot was down there yesterday and he said he saw all the search efforts. Everyone be careful.

Lake Mary can be terribly bad when the north wind blows,it blows right down the middle of the main lake..Thats where they were searching between the 2nd and 3rd chute in the main lake..
Heard today that they thought they had found the body but were gonna let it come to the surface on its own..

This is surely a tragedy that could have been prevented.May God bless the families of the men still missing.I am retired Navy and can swim pretty good, but,I never get in a boat without a life jacket on and all my passengers have them on before we leave the landing. My sons and I all have camo life jackets and if the water is rough,we keep them on even while we're hunting.Take care out there,my friends.
