50,000+ Mallards

Captain Duck,

Yes, there are a lot of ducks in Morgan Brake, but they are all in the santurary resting area part of the refuge. You can't hunt them, all you can do is just watch them from a good ways away.

Wow! Good news sure travels doesn't it Captain? I just spoke to the same person you know who gave you that report. I wouldn't mind going in there just to see 50,000 ducks. Like Claypool's reservoir.

I'll bet it's one of those deals where you set up in one of the holes on the huntable side of the property and you see nothing at all. So, are you up for a wild goose chase tomorrow, or shall I say, a wild Ringneck chase tomorrow?

Wildfowler, thanks for the invite but I have put the hunting stuff up only to be brought out if Damnyankee will give me the name of the goose guide where he and the Memphisstockbroker smoked them recently. Otherwise I am getting the boat ready for South La fishing and our honey hole in Copiah County where we loaded the boat last spring with big bass.

I hunted there no less than 6 times this season and yes the birds have been there for awhile. everytime I went there all I could get to come in was Gads. Pissed me off so bad it just wasn't worth the effort. Didn't kill a single mallard on the place but tore them stinking grey ducks a new rear end. If your into grey ducks have at it.

The refuge manager of Morgan Brake, Billy Frye, who has now been appointed a federal game warden said Sunday that the brake is holding 50-60,000 mallards for those of you with a $12 permit and time for one more hunt.No I was not being checked. He is good friends with one of my hunting buddies.
