finally had a good hunt to finish out this year

Had a great hunt yesterday morning. By great, I mean that we actually SAW ducks, got several groups to decoy, splashed a few, my son got another kill, and the dog retrieved them all.

We motored in to where we thought we were going to hunt only to find the hole covered up in pre-staged decoys (could have been an ass and cried first there on public land, but moved on). Tried plan B, but nothing worked, went for plan C, but some other hunters had it covered. Settled for plan D and got lucky. Found a hole where the sunlight hit the dekes and a place in the shadows for the boat. Turned out to be the ticket.

A good ending to a sucky season...my lab finally got to fetch more than one duck on a hunting trip...I think she's got the fever now. Before she looked at me like, hey dude, you wake me up, make me sit out here in the cold and I only get to fetch ONE duck...something better give.

Glad that you got to enjoy one with your son and the dog. I have three more days to get after em and hopefully we can have some fun! Already looking forward to next year!
