PICK YOUR HUNTIN PARTNERS CAREFULLY

Postby judge jb » Wed Jan 23, 2002 6:55 pm

this is my 3rd year in the Quack-Shack but i need some advise on a problem... seems you need to pick a huntin buddy sorta like a spouse... esp. if you intend to spend 50 days afield with him.. my partner sounds like a JAKE brake on an 18 wheeler snoring... he even keeps the dogs awake.... then to beat it all, he tells about what a good nite sleep he got when i only manadged a couple of hours..{ever spend a nite awake listening to a heavy snorer?} try several in a row... if he ain't snoring, he ain't asleep..... then he is passing gas from a bunch of rancid deer and beaver meat he saves for days at a time... then gets his feelings hurt when i don't eat it...

this morning beat it all... with it lightning and raining cats an dogs, he decides to take a dump on a paper plate at 2 in the morn.... well the Shack is kinda air tight and tends to make me throw up with the oder..THEN HE THINKS ITS FUNNY..... then gets back in the bunk and starts snoring..... i'm going crazy.... i know someone out there has some unusual advise i can use these last few days of season... give em to me......

thanks

I think that you will have to tell him, he has to go. If you can not take it any more make your move. I guess that he will have to sleep at home and show up at shooting time. Just kidding judge. I really don't know what to tell you or suggest. Have a good last few days. Jack

Shoot them sprigs on their first pass!

PS. I don't think I snore and I don't pass much gas>

1. you only got 7 more days, then he wont have to come back.

2. you know in hunting camps the truth will
be told, even if it hurts.

3.tell him the truth

4. if all else fails, take your lab out for
a night time swim, let him shake, come in and sleep by the bunk. it your dog, so you wont mind, HE WILL!!!

Sounds like a sticky situation. I don't know how old this guy is, but sounds pretty childish. I would lay it on him, and if he can't take it OOOOH WELL. Crapping on a plate is pretty disgusting, and I would not tolerate it. If he wants to get rowdy, call no angel, cause he has a temper and will whoop him j/k .

Judge, I know where you are coming from. I have had the same kind of crap with my dad for years. It all came to a head this year and I just had to sit back and think about it. You wait all year to hunt. You also plan on having fun while you hunt, including the night before. So as hard as it was and this was my dad I am talking about, I told him I was no longer hunting with him as he A) felt like hunting with me was a guide service, sit there do no work, complain if the ducks aint flying, shoot and everything that falls he killed, and my dog that was smokin' this year, sucked cause I didn't send it on a bird that she didn't see that he said was dead but got up and flew off seconds later. I just said I want to have fun, If I am gonna be miseralbe, I sure don't want it to be the 60 days of goose season. I think the best thing is to just put it out in the open as hard as it may be. However the poop on the paper plate, that's almost as good as the guy I read about a while back that took a dump in an empty shell box and got it all to fit in there! Hope it all works out! Judge, You need to just sit down with him and lay it all out. You spend the whole year waiting for duck season only to be misserable. that is not what you go out and spend your hard earned money on. And if he is a true friend he will understand.

Call his wife, tell her he broke his leg and you had to shoot him. if he snores that bad even she will appreciate the good deed. The sad thing is I have a Kid that snores like that, funny thing is her twin never makes a peep. and they are only five,

Well JB if your seriuous about it then HMMMMM that a tuffy but even I wouldnt tolerate the crapping in the plate cut him loose, I guess. The reason you hunt is too have a good time and too enjoy all the aspect of your hunt even your hunting partners. I know that me and the guy I have been hunting with for years both have some annoying habits to one another but they are nothing we can't work out. If I'm not late he is and in the end we both come out even on the oversleeping but I know that I'm not going to find anyone that I can call @ anytime and say Let hit in the morning ducks or not and he will go or vice-versa....we have been so pissed off at each other we might not speak to one another for a day or 2 but thats about it...... I guess I feel like we are soul-mate duckaholics. Like you said Judge picking and finding a good hunting partner is like looking for a good spouse....If you find a good one better hang on to em........If not cut em loose. Your Shack - Your Rules. If he is a good enough friend to spend 50 days duck hunting with you, he will certainly listen to you. If the shack has electricity, tell to go have a sleep study done before next season, he may need a C-Pac (Snoring Machine). My dad has one and what a difference it makes. Plus his wife will thank you too.

As for the snoring (to get you through the remainder of the season) you might try to purchase some breath right strips and suggest that he wear one.

As for the pooping on the plate, in my own shack!!!!!!

Not NO But GO and Quick!!

That is not even funny!!!

I have a great hunting partner! We have hunted together for three years now. He is with me almost every time I go out. If I have an offer from someone else and he is not invited, I don't go even though he tells me to go ahead without him ( you know unless he had something else to do)

Anyway I do feel lucky to have such a good friend. We have our spats, sometimes even ends up in a wrestling match. I usually win those!!!!!! My wife has seen bruises on both our arms and has told us we are childesh and will probably really hurt one another one day.

OH well

That is funny, but I can see why you are upset. I mean really who takes a dump on a paper plate. You need to tell him that you both are there and if he can't respect your personal time he needs to go. Tell him he is suppose to do that crazy stuff at camp fire not when people are trying to sleep. Judge, you must be a hell of a fella.

I know you don't need a lesson in "laying down the law", but life is too short to be ruining your hard earned leisure time. Snoring is one thing, a guy can't help that much, and earplugs or a radio might remedy that, but crapping in your shack is another thing altogether.

That kind of thing was funny when you were a teenager, but not anymore. Seems we have alot in common, I always try to see the good in people, and have been burned more times than I care to remember. Have you addressed this situation with him? If not, I suggest printing out this thread and giving it to him. Maybe then he will see what everybody else thinks. Yeah, it might hurt his feelings, but he should get the message. You obviously enjoy his company, but enough is enough. Ask him to do something about his snoring,(breath right strips, or SURGERY) and LAY DOWN THE LAW about crapping inside, I am sure there was other places he could have done it.
