Just wondering if woodies migrate the same distance as other ducks. Where did they migrate from?

Two seasons ago, I took two woodies (one each on successive days) in Holmes County, MS, that had been banded on the same day by the same person in Wisconsin.

My wife harvested a woodie 12/15/96. It was banded near Aragon, GA on 8/8/96.

I harvested one 1/4/02, banded near Reeseville (Horicon Marsh), WI, on 8/29/01.

It's interesting to see where they come from and where they end-up. My wife and I killed banded greenheads last year......8 days apart, 1300yds apart. The certificates revealed that they both hatched in '95 and were banded 8 days apart at the same location near Plumas, MB. 1255 digits separate her band # and mine. Another interesting note.....a fellow hunter informed me that he killed one that same year and 11 digits separate his band # and mine. Both were banded the same day in Plumas, MB. I have shot 2 drake woodies that were banded. I shot both of them in Delta National, and both were banded in Alabama. So I guess that they migrated west....

I killed a banded woodie in 1999 in Sunflower county on the first week in Dec. The bird had been banded 59 days earlier in Maine. The bird traveled 600 miles west and 800-1000 miles south in 59 days. Think about the bird averaging 16-18 miles per day every day of the journey.
