Ducks in tunica

Postby BigGun » Tue Jan 22, 2002 9:21 pm

I went to my lease on monday and man did we see ducks. We had a major problem with the 1000 in the field (300 yrds away)next to us though. Ducks would fly right over our spread to sit with the real birds. Got skunked and pissed about 8:30 and left.

Big Gun you have learned like me that it is nearly impossible to compete with natural p----. Atleast you got a chance to go and see a good number of ducks even though they skunked you. Good luck this weekend and hopefully everyone will be where the ducks want to be.

Shoot em in the throat

P.S. Damn it is hot here in J town!!!!

Fire a shotgun into the air and clear the field. Then work the ducks when they start filtering back in 10 or 15 minutes later. Works like a charm.

Tried that GC, jumped them with an atv and they sat right back down. Just circled until I drove off then back in. Made us sick. Went again this morning and had the same problem. Managed one ringneck but saw atleast 300 pintails. They sure are beautiful, but look a lot better in the blind.

Is there no place to throw a mummy blind or something where all the birds are getting up from? If ya can't beat em, get out of the blind and join em. Or option #2 take every decoy you have but about two, put them where the birds are landing to keep them from landing there then put a few dekes in front of your blind so it's the only other place the can land and see if that works.
