I found the ducks....no joke

Postby Dutch Dog » Tue Jan 22, 2002 8:36 pm

I found the ducks today. They were about a mile or a mile and a half north of the intersection of Hwy 304 and Fogg road. Right where Conger road meets Fogg rd. There were about 5,000 ducks there when we went by and ducks pouring in in flocks of 30 to 50 as well as several singles, doubles, etc. Take your binoculars if you want to see them in the field south of Conger rd. and west of Fogg rd. They are stacked up towards the back of that field also. We stopped and watched the show for about 15 minutes or so. I can tell you that this is extremely private property, but if you are just wanting to see the ducks, they are there. I am no expert on arkabutla lake, but I believe the ditch/creek that Fogg rd. crosses is Hurricane??? anyway the ducks are north of it. Conger rd is completely submersed in water, so if you don't know where it is you won't be able to see it for the water.

I have been hunting those ducks for some time know, you have to catch them early in the AM on the Lake, and yes that is Hurricane creek.

There are a bunch of ringnecks, yes, but there were a bunch of other ducks also. The ringnecks were the ones that were close to the road. If you look further off the road with binoculars you will see mallards, pintails, teal, and gads.

I went by there this afternoon and saw a bunch of canvasbacks. There were all kinds of ducks out there and they were right next to the road and not scared at all, i guess they saw the posted signs.
