I say ban them in Arkansas, ban them up and down the Flyway and across the US and Canada, everywhere. Not because they work that great anymore, but because they work on the juvenile population and educate the older birds.

For anybody that doesn't think they work down here, just try 7 or more. That makes them ball-up just like the first year so they tell me.

It's unfair, not ethical, and changes normal behavior. Killing mostly juveniles over a spinner and educating the older birds to where everybody is skybusting singles to get a limit is not my idea of improving the sport.

I hear a lot these days about lot's of folks saying they hunt these days for the joy of the marsh, dogs, sunrise, comrodery, etc. and not the killing of ducks. I hunt to land 20 mallards all around me where I can feel the wind from their wings and get a little splash of water on me in shin deep timber 2 or 3 times per morning. Doesn't happen much anymore in Arkansas after that first year of spinners.

The biggest impact to ducks in the last 6 years is the SWD, imho.

The 30% that voted to keep them, just learn how to call!!!! If this is a democracy why do the scientists keep them. 70% seems good enough reason to ban them.

With that said, I've done real well the last few years without using them, so the question is if nobody used them would I have done as well? Don't know the real answer, but I think we would all be better off as well as the birds would be better off if they were banned. Just my guess and I'm stickin' to it.
