mallard count questioned!

hunted 3 days in the delta at various locations. Some were bust and others were pass the trash. 5 of us killed in the last 2 days 10 teal, 10 gadwall, 3 pintails, 1 canvasback and a fat lipped hen. There are so few mallards overall, it's incredible. They never showed up in Arkansas in large numbers, never in Ms. Only a couple of million estimated the first week in Jan in the southern Illinois and Missouri bootheel area. Where are the 15 million or so mallards that suppossedly were up by 12% according to the Canadian biologist? What area has 13 million ducks waiting to migtate? Arther Anderson must be doing the duck accounting!

I have been seeing thousands of mallards in parts of the central/east delta. Always in 10" of water, or less, in cornfields. If you have that scenario, you have birds, if not, it has been tough sledding.

Guys in MN, WS, IO, and southern Canada says they have never SEEN so many mallards, as they have right now. You can't count ducks 2000 miles away brother. The same guys have set records for minimum snowfall. And, for the most part, their seasons sucked, the ducks arrived after the fact. travis

You know it could be the Enron execs that are giving the reports after AA counts. That was awful, mention the scandal to my dad and watch him blow up, he will never get over that. And he was able to get out before it hit rock bottom.

Fella's, I was down in Natchez today working and the guys down there have been bustin' nothing but mallards. Said they have never had mallards like this in there hunting tenure. It's the damndest thing! They wore them out the last 2 weeks in flooded timber. Great 45 minute hunts where 4 hunters limit..... I saw photos of some of there trips, unbelievable.

we have seen more pintails than ever before . we have had a split bag everyday half mallards and half pintails.
