limited quantities while supplies last A390
I was at Wally World today and picked up the last Beretta A390 at the Nashville Store I was at, I talked to the manager of the sporting goods dept and he told me that he was not going to be getting any more due to the warehouse having already shipped out their supply to the stores. He tried to transfere a NIB one for me but the two stores he tried did not have any. So If you are thinking about getting one you might want to think quick. With tax and everything it cost $574.30. What a steal, Bass Pro Shop in Nashville still has several for $899.00 I will keep ya'll updated and let you know how my new addition works out.

I saw one at the Walmart in Flowood the other day..It said 390 on it, not al 390..I guess it's the same gun, black synthetic..I had 2 buddies who hunted in the rain on saturday; one w/ a 390 the other w/ a 391. They said the guns jammed all day long, by noon they had only 1 shot a piece..One is a new gun for the season, the other just got out of the gunshop w/ a thourough cleaning 2 weeks ago...
my sbe did jam once on Sat, but then it shot fine..that's after I dropped it all the way under water..It has jammed on me 2 times this season...

Rain won't make ANYTHING jam. It will make it rust.

My 390 has never jammed on me. And it has really been abused, dropped in the mud, completely underwater etc,etc... It just keeps on shooting though. I do clean it every now and then.

I agree with RotDorn that water can eventually rust the stock spring and cause problems. In fact, www.surecycle.com got started by selling stainless steel replacement parts for SBE's due to thier propensity to rust and crack.
If the two beretta guns described above were jamming and it was the first time they have been in the rain, or they have only gotten "rain wet" a couple of times, something is fishy. That should not make them jam. It takes a lot of water and a several weeks for the rust problem to kick in. I feel pretty familiar with this because I had to replace the stock spring assemblies on both my thank-goodness-thier-gone SBE's.
If those same two beretta guns mallardchaser is talking about have been duck hunted with a couple times a week for a whole season, especially deep wading, the stock spring is the first place that I would look, like RotDorn said. In fact, I would get a sure cycle, and quit worrying about it.

I put the complete Sure Cylce kit this year in my SBE, no jams, hang ups etc..
Too bad I had to buy one at all but none the less cheaper than buying a new gun.
I would recommend buying both kits. Takes about 20 minutes to install.

Didn't we discuss this before?
I thought someone figured out that the Wal Mart brand Beretta is the same gun but comes with less features or options?
I thought it was choke tubes or maybe even a fixed choke?

yankee,
the 390 I have gotten from walmart has all three chokes so I think it is the same gun, According to the sporting goods mgr, Wal Mart bought out the remander of the 390 from beretta once the 391 went into production. He also told me that the warehouses have already shipped everything that they had. so the only available 390's are the ones in the stores know.

I went up to Walmart to look at the Beretta....1 store had a 390 and another store had an AL390. They looked similar....synthetic stock, 3 tubes, but one had Mallard "something" on side of the receiver. Also 1 gun was had 24" barrell....any comments on expected patterning (hopefully tight with full choke). Any difference than 28" barrell with full choke? Thanks for comments....nj

It is the SAME GUN, with the semi hump reciever, minus the stock shims and chamber cut off, with a matt black finish and synthetic stock.

Thanks GC.....what about the 24" barrell. Can I expect the 24" to shoot as tight with the full tube as a 28" gun? Never really knew the true scoop on this. I kinda liked the way the 24" gun pointed. Thanks nj
