Just got a new Delta report!

Postby msdawg » Fri Jan 18, 2002 2:26 pm

Just talked to some of the guys I work with, they have been hunting the past two days in the Delta. Yesterday they got 17 around Tippo. Today they got 8 North of there. They hunted flooded timber both days. They did say that there were a lot more birds in the fields this afternoon. They also saw a few more birds flying in this afternoon.

I am a delta native and the past couple of days I have been seeing more and more ducks. Looks like we are starting to get them since there is colder weater up north and the water is backing out here.

We had a great hunt Saturday AM. I got my limit(3Greenheads,1GWall,2 GWT) and the wife managed to bust a big fat greenhead too She was so stoked up, it was too funny!!!When they would cup up she would just start this funny little giggle and say really quietly "Oh my god,Oh my god, here they come, heeeheeheee!!!" It was raining so I had her bundled up like an eskimo. Managed to keep her warm and dry but she kept getting her stock hung up on her jacket. If she hadn't been having those problems she would have gotten her limit too There were loads of ducks right at shooting time, I'm telling her to shoot em and she going wait a minute,I'm not ready yet By the time she was "ready" I was only 1 duck short of the limit!!! A single greenhead comes sailing in all cupped up with the landing gear down, I shoot and MISS then she just powders him It was the best part of the hunt!!! She had a blast and told me before we even left the field "I'm coming back next weekend!!" I can hardly wait!!!

UJ, It sounds like you have just accomplished the impossible, You know have your best friend and life long companion as your hunting buddy and no, I am not talking about your dog (JK) I have been trying to get my wife to go hunting with me for 7 yrs. and still no luck. I even build a big floater with heat, elec. stove, and a b-roo. but she still will not go. I even offered to fix her favorite cassarole in the blind and she still won't go, But the Cassarole was great. Oh Well Maybe next year.

I know it!! I took her deer hunting a few times and she was bored out of her mind !!! Even when there were 15 or so deer feeding in the field in front of us. She was so bored she went to sleep within 30 minutes of getting in the stand!!! A shooter finally came out, I woke her up, she shot it,end of story, end of her deer hunting career BUT she really liked the duck hunting I really didn't expect her to have as much fun as she did, but I sure am glad she did. Looking forward to next weekend
