Don't give up/F&F Boats
Went out this morning after taking a five day break(discouraged)and found a bunch of ducks in a place we have not hunted since earlier in the season. Also had a friend call to tell me they have had a good week around Marked Tree. Excited about hunting in the morning. Does anyone have any input on F&F boats, I am thinking about buying one.

i looked at one the other day at southern marine in olive branch. i think it was a 15 footer maybe 16, but he wanted about 2300 for it. no trailer.
i liked the look and layout of the boat, and the color, it is a well built boat and the people that make the boat generaly dont bother with dealers, they like to sell direct from the factory in monticello ark.

F&F boats in monticello ark builds perhaps the best aluminum boat on the market (in my opinion of course) A friend of mine had one built just last year and has been nothing but pleased. I worked in a machine/welding shop all through high school and part of college so I have a small background in all things metal and these guys build strong boats. The manager whose name I do not recall told us if he could not convince us to buy his boat over a War Eagle (our second choice) he would buy our lunch and gas on the trip home! nothing to lose it is worth the trip to see the small shop where they make these boats from scratch. By the way the money he saved us on the hull and trailer (which is almost identical to the War Eagle minus some fancy camo) allowed us to afford a new four stroke Yamaha. If your considering a new boat it is definitely worth the trip. Good luck!

My next boat will be an F&F. They are build very similar to WarEagle, but have more ribs. They are really tough boats, the Lake Patrol at Sardis uses one, I saw it after they had rammed a log a night, and there was only minor damage, the guy said they were cruising along about 50 knots when they hit it, and he thought they would sink after hearing the noise. Impressed me.
Noangel, was that a Dixie trailer? Years ago I bought a WarEagle and the trailer I got with it was the same way, fell apart after about three months. The Dixie trailers Southern Marine sells with their F&F's seem to be really good ones.

You guys need to look at a lynn's welding and boat repair boat. They have been in business for over two generations. They build all the boats for the mdwfp. They have dual floors and built in tanks. Mdwfp made them put the first one in the river and pull the plug and usde the double floor and air tight front deck to float. It was a sight to see. The bottom and transom is out of 190 ga. aluminum and the sides are out of 125 ga. They can build these things however you want them. We love ours with a 100 hp 4-stroke yamaha, it make a great river boat.

Lynn's shop is in the LaTourneau area just just South of Vicksburg. He was at the wildlife extravaganza in Jackson this year. I think his business is called Lynn's Welding, but there are about 100 Lynn's in that area. I don't own one of his boats, but he did make a repair to a boat of mine. I knocked a hole in the V-bow of my boat, after failing to load it on the trailer properly. Lynn welded a huge slab of aluminum over the hole. When he was done I had a 1/4 inch thick cow catcher on the front. It looked great and I could bash through anything after he got through working on my boat. Personally though, I think his boats are too heavy and expensive. I wouldn't want one.
A buddy of mine just bought a 15/42 F&F. It's a really good looking boat, I'm not sure of the model number but his boat has 24 inch sides. I've never seen a 15 foot boat that came with 24" sides. This ones a very safe and stable boat with a super reinforced transom. It's also got the side extrusion that will accomidate the War Eagle type gunnel mounted accessories. This would come in very handy if you could ever talk the guys at Cauruthers marine into selling you the War Eagle accessories even though you didn't buy the boat from them.???

I think that Wildfowler was making reference to my new 15/42 F&F. I have looked for the right duck boat at the right price for two years and this is the one. The boat has a lifetime guarantee. 80 guage hull with reinforced 120 guage transom. You can get the best buy in Ms from two partners that have 3 more boats. One boat is in Brandon at Northshore Marine (Sandy Sanders). The other two are in Macon at L&L Outfitters (Les Lindley). They come with electric start 25 Mercury's and I agree that the trailor leaves something to be desired, but at the price I bought mine I can live with trailor.Les wants to sell these last two boats badly as it has been a disastrous duck season overall. If you can't find him call Sandy at Northshore Marine in Brandon.
