will the geese come in....
i hunt in a lake with some flooded cypress. the trees are pretty open. we see alot of geese flying over high. i was thinking about getting about 6 goose decoys and putting them outside my decoy spread. will the geese come down on a lake like that, or will i just be wasting my time trying to call them down? i went hunting on a lake in north Ms. that is similar to the one i hunt. i noticed that most of the hunters up there have a few goose decoys on their spreads. was just wondering if this would work?

99 out of 100 geese hit the dry fields for feeling of safety but have had few come really low over the brakes. never seen one land in the flooded water in the woods but you never know.

Most folks use the goose floaters for confidence decoys. Every once in a blue moon you can get a Canada goose in setup like you are describing.

Helluva lot better gig to kill ducks over goose decoys, than to try to kill geese over duck decoys. Ducks wnt fly low over geese, so if you mix, make sure they dont have to fly over geese to get shot at. They will land 2 foot on the open side of goose decoys, but wont fly over them. travis
