Done with ducks! Texas or Bust!

Postby BigOleDucker » Tue Jan 15, 2002 4:28 pm

Anyone got any tips or suggestions on quail hunting? Going to Texas this week to hunt quail. Used to go with my uncle when I was younger but I've never really been serious about it. Should be a good hunt, and I would like some advice or tips on things to bring and not bring etc.. so that may help it not be like my duck hunts this year!!

Hunted them several years up in the Texas panhandle. Everything out there will stick you. You had better have some boots for the dogs. Also got to shoot at some blue quail. Some of the best ducking hunting I have ever been on was the tanks (ponds). No body up in that part of Texas cared much about ducks. Shoot some in a peanut field. Jack

Shoot them sprigs on their first pass!

comfortable lite boots, sock liners, briar pants or chaps and a lite weight 20 or 28 if you got it and plenty of shells. I love bird hunting wish I was going with you.
