Hold-on, now......if you want to expand your horizons, you're gonna have to look beyond your local Sonic Drive-Inn. WNE Driver has some good info......'might not be what you wanta hear, but he's stimulating some thought, and clearing-up a rediculous mis-conception. That's what makes this site so different.....if everybody heard everything they wanted to hear, they wouldn't learn anything, 'cause they think they already know it all. Let's give the guy some latitude....maybe he's not from Mississippi, but he IS a duck hunter. You gotta EARN respect, and so far, this guy's doing a pretty good job o' gettin' mine. Anatidae -
Thanks for the hospitality!
Just a little FYI -
There is only one kind of tea - cold and sweet
My favorite corn product - grits
My second favorite corn product - hominy
The only thing better than bicuits and gravy is gravy over hashbrowns
To really set of ham, beans and cornbread I prefer a big ol' dollop of molasses
There is more than just collard greens and ham hocks, my favorite is turnip greens with a little side meat.
And last but not least - Cracklins kick ass!
Case you was a wonderin, momma'sside of the family was from KY. I know it ain't MS, but it's as close as I can come!!! LOL

What DNE Diver is saying is a hell of a lot more logical than what the others have said. Ya'll need to take a deep breath, step back and get a better perspective. I know the season as been sub-par but....

Any intellegent commentary is welcome on the board, whether or not it agrees with conventional wisdom. I agree with Anat. on this one.

Now, boys....don't go using words like "intelligent" and "logical" as it relates to duck hunting and duck hunters. Can't see anything "logical" or "intelligent" about standing waist deep in ice water and calling it fun! It just goes against nature to call for people to be rational in an irrational pursuit! Kinda like asking the "lions to lay down with the lambs"...Next time someone says something stupid on here again, just think to yourself..."Oh well, what did I expect? He is a duck hunter, after all!"

They say that mental illness is very prevalent in America. I had an expert witness tell me that 1 out of 5 people in America suffers from mental illness.
So, if the 4 folks around you look normal, brutha YOUR IT, unless the other 4 are duck hunters....

I HAVE PERSONALLY SEEN THIS "FEEDING OF THE DUCKS" OF WHICH YOU SPEAK. I was at a local pond recently and watched ducks being fed large quantites of old bread. 5 kids were throwing it out as fast as they could and there were 17 ducks (almost 3 limits!) just eating everything that was thrown at them.
I can't believe parents would let children participate in such a travesty against the ecologic system. THOSE BASTARDS!
whew! now you guys see what happens when a quack addict has withdrawls. hehehe

fav corn products? And you left out corn squeezings? Sheeeeez...
Man we used to feed all the ducks on the lake. The kids would feed em, and then we'd catch the lil bream that came up under them for the bread. One day, my wife had some old rasin bread. She was feeding it to ducks, and our pom-poo (pomerian poodle mix, or a $#!+ as I call him) Elvis was chowing down on it. Directly he goes to walking back to the house, stumbling and falling on himself. Apprently, the bread had fermented, and he was drunk as a monkey. He went into his kennel, facing the back of it, and passed out. Threw up twice in the middle of the night, like any good drunk. And i got my wifey going, tell her their was ran over ducks all over the street on the other side of the lake! bwhahaha. travis

WNE I didn't think anyone drank sweet tea above Arkansas. Asked for sweet tea once in Springfield, MO and the waitress looked at me like I was crazy. Got worse the further north I moved too. When I got to South Dakota they couldn't even understand me. I guess it was the redneck accent

Hey all,
Haven't been here in awhile and just came here. This topic caught my eye and I had to respond!!! These off the wall nut case excuses about there not being any ducks is hilarious. What makes them even more funny is that my hunting partner has been saying some of the same ones; "DU has screwed up the hunting here in South MS. All of the money is being spent in the Delta..." As a biologist I've tried slipping in the facts that there has been very little COLD weather, and a WHOLE crap load of rain. Of course this has been to no avail. The odd thing that I have seen this year is birds not moving. We have some birds down here, but they don't fly. We see them when we leave or round a bend. We hunted this morning and shot at a group of three teal. Saw about eight more way in the distance and that was it. On the way out we jumped at least a dozen or so. Personally I think that the mild weather and the amount of water just has the birds finding food and cover all of the place.
Oh well just my 2 cents worth.
CALL TRENT, SHOOT GREEN PEACE, ERASE THE NORTH, THE ALIENS DID IT.......!!!!!!!!!!!!!
