Finally got my first limit yesterday morning.

2 Greenheads, 2 GW Teal, 1 Woody, and 1 Baldplate. The closest I came to a limit was the evening before, 3 ducks. I started getting discouraged after hunting 17 straight days with 12 ducks in the bag. The last 3 days the ducks have been flying a lot more, especially the mallards. Been seeing a lot of pintails in the area, which is very rare sight to myself. Had a flight of around 50 cup on the decoys, but I didn't help being out in the middle of the dekes after chasing a crippled teal for around 200 yds. What's hurting the most in the surrounding area is that all the fields had cotton grown on them. There is one guy that planted 80 acres of corn, left 30 acres standing, and there hasn't been one duck seen going into the field. on the other hand there is one cotton field that has 10K ducks on it, and for what reason I have no idea. I know for a fact that it hasn't been baited with corn, so they must be eating the cotton seed.

GH22, were you hunting public with 3 guys, one having one of them fedoras, on 2 fourwheelers? I haven't met you before, but I thought I saw someone who resembled the photo of you at the get-together.

Meeka, it wasn't me. I have never hunted public land before and hope I won't have to, but the way things are going these days in 5 years the majority of us will be on public land.

Greenhead 22,
In the post to Torch & No Angel you said that you, & I quote, "I have killed more pintails than usual, lots of blue bills, and tons of green wings." Well this sounds like two different stories to me, well what is it have you killed a ton of pintails, blue bills, and green wings, or have you only killed 12 ducks in 17 days?????

either you are a having a real bad year or every body else is. You know how duck hunters are, they are worse than fisherman and twice as ruthless. But it does make for good reading, Someone ought to publish this stuff.

Make sure you got the right "Greenhead." There is a Greenhead that wrote to those two, as I remember. This is our lovable GH22! What I want to know GH22, is this: Have you changed your ways and only did it once a day? Just thought I'd try to get a rise out of you, man! Hope the hunting is much better in your part of the woods than it was back when I was home earlier!
