Info on ducks around Greenville area

Postby Ducks&Hogs » Fri Jan 11, 2002 2:16 pm

More ducks are being seen and a few more are being killed. The River is now out of most of the cover on area lakes. Flooded fields are being hunted hard with some success. Ducks are concentrated in certian areas. Today at lunch, I went on a short drive and found some ducks in a flooded bean field. The field is probably 3 acreas surrounded by trees on three sides. The field held approximately 300 ducks. Largest concentration of Mallards that I have seen probably over 100. The field also contained approximately 20 bull sprigs. The rest were gadwalls, widgeon, and blue bills. The land is private, but I am hoping to get permission to hunt it. It was exciting to see these birds. Maybe things are looking up even though the weather is warm.

With a little luck and some good scouting we may still get some pictures to put in the scrap book.
