Have any of you shot the new Hevi shells? I have thought about buying some, but I would like to know a little more then the company dogma about them, before I make the purchase. For all the shooting I have done this year one box would have been plenty. So the cost is not all important if the shell is truely that much better then steel. I am not a great shot by any means, so if I could use the smaller shot sizes I know that would improve my odds somewhat. Let me know if anyone has any experience with them please. I have also thought about them for a new turkey load!

I shot some number six 3" loads when I went to Arkansas at the end of November. It killed birds dead and packs a pretty hard punch. Bought some for Turkey hunting last spring it patterned pretty well but decided to stay with my 3.5" Lead 6's for the big birds. Shot the rest of mine on ducks, its better than steel but I just can't see paying the price for it right now. On a year like this those birds that get away really do hurt though.

I tried 2 boxes of hevi #4, they were out of #6. I love them. Killed what few ducks I saw this year, one at about 45 yards. The real kicker that convinced 2 guys I hunt with was the shot on 2 geese. 2 consecutive days same situation. Geese flying about 45-50 yards straight over blind, hunting partner says no way you can hit those. Dropped them both. I had the same results with Kent tungsten matrix. Could not tell the difference in the two. I will be buying a case next year. Try them you'll love them.

It is much better than steel, but I cannot tell that it is any better than Kent Tungsten Matrix. I am too cheap to shoot that stuff, though. Thank goodness for Christmas presents.

If you can shoot, it's worth it. A miss is a miss with anything. But I notice that a hit with the Hevi shells puts the ducks down hard...no further shooting required as alot times finishing off cripples when shooting steel.
It just may about equal out: 1 expensive shell vs. 3 steel shells ( 1 feather shot, 1 wing breaking shot, 1 cripple shot ). I'll continue keep some around--not a bad strategy by GC to request as stocking stuffers every year.

Works like a charm! I get shells and duck calls every Christmas. I am happy, and they always know what they can buy!!!

That stuff seems to me to be bad rough on a barrel... I dunno I wasn't that impressed with the box or two I shot... not enough to pay for it....One of the fellows I hunt with came back from a Goose hunt in Canada he said they used 6 and 7.5 on Honkers said it would foldem up dead as a hammer 40 50 yards with a patern master...... dunno still too high IMHO
