No Ducks In Central Arkansas

Postby laduck » Mon Jan 07, 2002 8:26 pm

Talked to a friends father tonight who lives in Clarendon, Ark. He is 83 years young and still hunts them ducks. He has lived there and hunted them all of his life. He hunts where the White and Cache Rivers come together. You can hear the shots from his house. The word is "there are very few ducks around there". "In all my years, I have never seen it this bad". He told me that they are killing a few ducks in the Northeast corner. Also told me that a friend, who lives in north-central Missouri, said that they had the best year ever. I sure hope that things will change in the next couple of weeks. Jack

Shoot them sprigs on their first pass!

I hunted NE AR today, 4 hunters 12 Mallards. There are some new ducks there but they are acting so crazy. Yesterday I went by myself killed 4 drakes in about 15 minutes stayed for a few hours and could have killed hundreds. Went back today with 3 guys took about 5 hours to get 12 . Saw alot of ducks but today they wouldn't work? Yesterday they would?
The good news is it's almost over!!

laduck,
looks like this year is going to a total flop. got started back to school monday, it's good to be back, but the school part could wait a little longer. my duck count for the season has now risen drastically since my hunt on the river the other afternoon. two woodies fflew over and i got the drake. so i wasn't completely skunked on the year. come up sometime for companionship, b/c it will definately not be to kill greenheads, unless things do a 360 degree turn-around.

cupped & committed

Big Black- if things did a 360 degree turnaround, they would be just like they are now

Good luck the rest of the season, and by the way which school are you attending?
