Damn A Benelli!!!!!

I love mine. have had it for thirteen years. onlky hung up 3 times so far and one broken ejector after ten years. have prob shot over 10000 shells through it, everything from low brss 7/8 oz 7&1/2's to 2&1/4 oz #5 turkey loads

Now, just for the record, I recall a certain someone heaping much praise on that shotgun just a short while ago. :wink:

Yeah, ol Money knows how to fix a shotgun that needs to be replaced. :shock:

But, I am happy to report that Ol Betsy has been straightened back out and may be put back into limited duty. But, for now, she has been replaced by a new Remington 870 Super Express pump (the gun that won the MS Delta). This new shotgun has some big shoes to fill, but so far it appears up to the task. After a few hundred rounds through it on the skeet range, it will be primed and ready for next season.

I have thought the same hillhunter. Van at Van' Deer Processing told me he thought Browning should make both the A5 and the Gold. I have never asked why Browning didn't come out with a 3 & 1/2" A5. I assumed it was due to marketing reasons since most folks want a gun that will shoot all three shells with different loads. As you probably know, you have to adjust the rings in order to shoot light loads in the A5. This does not bother me since I never hunt anything but ducks with mine. I have a 20 gauge for dove. I mentioned the trouble of having to change the rings in the A5 being a pain one day to Dave Swann of Swann's Gun Repair. He said "yeah, but it works doesn't it?"

You're probably right though; a 3 & 1/2" A5 might have a pretty good kick to it.

The A5's never wore out. So after they made a couple million, no one had any need to buy new ones. Seriously. That is what happens with good QC and machined parts. It would cost a bundle to make an A5 now with the parts and labor costs.

I have never owned an A-5, but I have always wanted one. I do have a Remington Model 11, which is the same design as the A-5. Nothing like a little recoil operated action to knock your socks off.

Barrel rings, ejectors, extractors, and ejector rivets on the super 90 only were weak links. Most of these problems were in the old H&K's. Most any Benelli 6 or 7 years old were not made by Benelli they were made by H&K. The new SB11 seem to be a good gun. If you are having problems with a Benelli send it to me and I will either fix it or send it back to the factory if it has a broken part. Barrel rings and ejector rivets will be replaced under warrenty by Benelli no matter how old it is. The other parts are on a case by case basis depending on the wear and the condition of the gun. Guys THESE ARE GOOD GUNS! They just require a little more tlc than most of the other auto's

i like my A-5's.... bought new in 1969 and 1971.......they been good to me.....not to mention the little 20 ga. sxs from 1986....

I own an A5 for 30 years and its only limitation was being a 2 3/4. I bought a Beneli 2 years ago and must say that on several first shots, I have failed to fire and that is the pits. I believe that if the shell is loaded by the buttons, it is chambered tighter and will fire. If by chance, one loads a shell by pressing the button(s) and assisting the closing procedure, it does not close with the same tightness. The first shot is my only shot that I have difficulty with, not multiple shots. Has anyone else sensed this problem, or am I day dreaming that this is happening? Thanks for any response.

A couple of years ago i thought i just had to have an sbe.So i got one even though my stepdad(Professional Gunsmith for 30 years) begged me not to and it jammed every other time i pulled the trigger at least.Literally!The barrel fell off,the ejector pin broke,the magazine spring broke,etc.,etc.

All in one duck season.Needless to say i sold that P.O.S. and got a Browning BPS.

Very pleased with it.

Your inertia spring and tube is probably either dirty or rusty. DO NOT PLAY WITH THE BOLT ON THESE GUNS. THEY CAN AND WILL GO OFF!!! Even with the saftey on! You need to have it cleaned by someone that knows how to clean it right. If your tube is rusty you will need to have it replaced. You cannot correct this problem if a tube has rust or pitted spots in the tube. This comes from the stock being in the water(i.e. wading in deep water, or using it for a boat paddle) Most people do not even know how to do this let alone ever do it! If you don't know how take it to someone that does before you kill someone sitting next to you!

I am getting ready to buy a new duck gun. I have been shooting a borrowed browing gold hunter all fall with no problems, but I was going to buy a benelli because they are supposed to be the latest and greatest but now I am thinking twice about it. What about shooting dove loads in these 3.5 inch guns?
