Most memorable moments this year....

Was wondering what everyones most memorable moment in the field was, from this years hunting season? Got to be some good stories out there.

4. While wearing hip boots in a field, crossed a ditch except there was nothing but water where my foot went. DUNK!
3. The next day, demostrating for a friend what I did and showing him EXACTLY where to cross the ditch.....DUNK!!
2. Missing a greenhead barely 10 yards out exhibiting the perfect profile shot.
1. My son, hunting with a single shot .410, takes his first duck ever!...It was the one I missed!!! He will never forget it, cause he will never let me live it down!

Beautiful spread, great wind, chilly temps, wide open marsh. Then at daybreak the thickest fog ever rolled in. Visibility was 5feet.

hearing the story from Jordan River about his swim and then watching a real live demo the following day....Not to be outdone I had to show him how us old folk can take a swim, (after breakin the ice as not to bump the pretty face) and come up smilin. UNFORGETTABLE!!!

i got a story, i was in a rice pit and wasnt doin much , then out of the right a see a small single locked up and coming in , my buddie was in the water gettin a hollywood that he killed , i say sit still hes comin in , hes about 10 yards i shoot three times nothin, then he comes back as i am reloadin , i shoot 2 times nothin , @(&^$)&@ , i reload again , he comes back 2 more shots and yep you guessed it nothin, now thats sums up my whole season , I cant hit what is here , but i sure scare the @$@$ out of em.
Oh yea it was a bluebill , forgot that part ..

Shoot a rare Louisiana marsh mallard, duck lands in the marsh grass behind the blind still alive. I rush out the blind and the duck is underneath the grass running. All of a sudden no movement, the dog finally gets to the spot and finds the duck 30 yards from where I am standing. Dog brings duck, while walking back to the blind, ducks coming in. Drop duck to shoot and when I go to pickup the duck it is gone ! Searching, Searching, duck is forty yards out swimming in the pond to the other side. Get in pirogue and chase the duck to the other side of the pond and shoot him again. Man, a lot to go through for one duck

1. Killing a 8 man limit on opening morning.

2. Getting into some major IN YO FACE mallard action in flooded timber the week before Christmas. 103 ducks in 7 days.

My most memorable moment is one I wish I could forget. Second to last weekend of the season over here, had a freind following me out to a spot he had never hunted. That morning he was having motor troubles with his Go-Devil. So I would run a ways and I would look back and he wasn't there, so I would turn around and go back and find him to make sure he was okay. About the fourth time it happened, I was wondering if I should ask him to just hunt my lease since he was having motor problems and we were getting slowed down with his motor trouble. Well I run back to go look for him and come around a bend in the bayou and see his running light that looked like it was just above the water line. My first impression was that his boat had sunk. We went about 50 yds. further and started passing debris in the bayou. I then slow down to an idle and run the Q-beam to make sure he is not in the debris. I find him clinging to the bow of the boat, with hardly any color in his face. We get his dog out of the way and we can't lift him into the boat, so we have to hold on to him and head to the bank to try and pull him out of the water. At this point he can't stand up, so we drag him out of the water, after about five minutes he can kneel down, then another five minutes he can stand up. Then we get our outher clothes off and have him take his off, and put ours on him, and I always carry a spare jacket, gloves, and face mask in the boat for just this kind of problem. We put all of that on him and then try to get his boat out of the bayou as it's just barley light and plenty of other duck hunters are going to be comig by and we don't want a bigger mess if they plow into his boat. This was all right as a front was coming through so it was quite cold esp. with the wind chill. In the mean time we get in touch with some other guys that hunt with us and they are on their way over to us to help. When they get there, they have a hyper drive and therefore more speed so they take him back to the ramp as he is setting into hyperthermia big time. We get his boat out of the water empty it, and tow it back to the landing. My freind was okay, but it still scares me to think of that morning, esp. if we hadn't been running together. Now the moral of this story he had neither a kill switch or life jacket on. I now will never run without either, always think saftey guys as you never know when t his kind of stuff can happen to you. Sorry to ruin an upbeat post with that, but it's by far my most memorable moment of the season, in fact probably of any season.

I was huntting by myself which is not uncommon and shot two woodducks. My young dog goes on the retrive of one and carries it across the creek form me and comes back empty handed. I have waded this creek many times this season and go to get my duck. I forgot about how much rain we had had the day before. While crossing a tiny bit of water comes over my waders so after retriving my duck I decide to cross at a different spot. Yep, you guessed it, Went in over my head. have you ever tried to swim with your waders full of water when it's 38 degrees out. It SUCKS! No I didn't shoot the dog, but he is soon going to school.
Just remember, when huntting alone or with others be careful!

Here's one....group of about 20 greenheads cupped into our spread.....opening morning.....hunting at chotard with chotardhunter.....notice he only fired one shot....so after hearing this thud....looked to my left and noticed he's in the bottom of the boat....his new charles daly kicked him so hard....it knocked him out of his seat on his booty......i laughed my butt off....and he will never live that one down...
