Duck food quershun.....

Do cattails have any value, as duck food???.....got a ton of them in a duck hole that came up voluntarily.

No. its an indication of prolong flooding at a level you dont want...
Summer, dry out, mow, smoke with chemical........multiple times
or mow and then flood over to 3 ft deep.........for a long time. Then you will have to worry about lotus.
I think option 2 is a tough call on water depth unless you have COMPLETE control.

And don't disk it! All disking does is chop up the rhizomes and spread it.
