Delta Wildlife Leaders, Members, and Friends:
Thanks to the NRCS and other partners, Delta Wildlife will be providing over $2,000,000.00 of cash incentives to WRP landowners over the next 4 years to better manage duck holes on WRP lands. Additional funds have also been secured for Delta Wildlife to assist WRP landowners with feral swine monitoring and trapping to reduce damage and impacts they cause to wetland habitat and hydrology infrastructure. All landowners with WRP or WRE tracts in the Mississippi Delta are eligible to participate. To sign up for this program, you need to visit the Delta Wildlife website at http://www.deltawildlife.org, click on the “WRP Duck and Hog Program” button on the bottom left side of the homepage, and completely fill out and submit the application. Applicants will need to have their WRP Agreement Number to complete the application.
We would hope that each of you who have lands in the WRP or WRE program will sign up. Furthermore, we encourage each of you to share this email with any of your friends or family that also have lands enrolled in WRP so they too can benefit from this project. Our funding sources should enable Delta Wildlife to provide support to approximately 2/3 of all the acres enrolled in WRP in the Mississippi Delta.
Delta Wildlife looks forward to helping landowners combat feral swine and improving waterfowl habitat in the Delta. If you or anyone has questions regarding this project, we encourage you to contact the project lead, Jody Acosta via email at jacosta@deltawildlife.org.
