Ask DS -> killing yellowjackets
What is the best way to kill yellowjackets? The nest in the ground is fairly accessible. Gas, malathion, permethrin, spray/foam, other? I think I'll pass on the soap and water. Thanks.

The only way I've ever killed them. But you have to do it in the morning when it's still cool and have to be quickmsudawg8087 wrote:We need video evidence of any and all attempts to kill said yellow jackets using this method.

I've used the gas method several times. Pour it in and let it sit a minute and then light that bad boy up if it's a big nest it'll raise the ground when it "goes off" I hit the top of one with a dozer one time, the next day when I could get back out there i poured 5 gallons down the hole, waited about 2 minutes and lit my gas trail i made and it made a good boom underground, killed them all the nest was the size of a mattress when I dug it up. Gotta video it and show us. However much gas you think you need, put a little more for good measure!

Whatever you decide to do, do it while it is dark. Not even early in the morning, but at night!

Not yellowjackets, but has anyone had an issue with guinea wasps this year more than normal? I have never had an issue at my house but this year they are everywhere. Them suckers are mean. I hit the nests(yes plural) 3 times to kill them all. And the same thing at my father in laws house in north MS.

Looking for 2 duck calls from Dominic Serio of Greenwood (ones for Novacaine)

I’m in SW TN and have run em off a few times this year.deltadukman wrote:Not yellowjackets, but has anyone had an issue with guinea wasps this year more than normal...
I am interested in purchasing duck calls that were made by Mike McLemore. I am a family member and they have a sentimental value.

No interesting report - Gatorade bottle full of gasoline, 10:30 pm, poured in hole, nothing happened, today there were no little devils flying around. Easy as could be.

Yep, I trimmed hedges 3 times and have pissed them off all 3 trips. Them suckers get mad quick.

This will take care of wasps and dirt dobbers of all types-----"Martin's Surrender"-----get it at any co-op or Ace Hardware-----it's actually made for fireants.

Looks like I get to participate.
I discovered this weekend that I have a yellow jacket nest in the wall of my house. They’re going in/out around the small gap in my refrigerant line from my HVAC unit. If I treat this thing and seal the hole, am I good? Doing some reading, it sounded like that may suffice for yellow jackets, but for honeybees it is a MUST to actually remove the nest. Anybody know about successfully getting rid of these things?
