Hydrilla
The past few seasons the hydrilla has increased a little each year on our beaver pond. This year it has exploded and is very thick. Is hydrilla any good for ducks? Do gadwalls like it? Thanks.
Re: Hydrilla
Are you sure its hydrilla ?
Re: Hydrilla
Little green specks floating in a mat on top of the water? It can vary from year to year. Ducks don’t like landing in it. Hunt the clear water. Stiff wind this week should blow it to the south side
No, i don't want to know you ---- teul

Re: Hydrilla
I think the specks of green floating in am at would be duckweed. This has a long stem and is green and leafy. It could be something else. Not sure.

Re: Hydrilla
If it's turning brown right about now, then it sounds like ornamental water hyacinth. It is good for nothing but choking-out all the other vegetation ducks normally are attracted to. The only practical method to eradicate it is a catastrophic high-water event.......the likes of which, experienced by Noah.

Re: Hydrilla
Per the link that Denduke posted, it is definitely either hydrilla or Egeria. Do ducks like either of these? Thanks again.
