Anderson Tully
Anybody know anything about Anderson Tully selling off all their land? Heard they had been in negotiations with several companies and also with the guberment to double the size of a certain WMA that some of their land borders. Supposedly all those talks have been put on hold because somebody has expressed interest in all 300k acres.
Re: Anderson Tully
Yes, read on another board about a deal with the state and ATCo that would double the size of a certain WMA. It's part of public record. State was looking to buy Halpino, but scrapped that in favor of 15-20k acres from ATCo near there.
Have not heard about a complete sell out, but I wouldn't think that would be the reason to stall any deal with the state. TFG bought all of Tully's land about 10 years ago, so I guess they could sell again.

Apparently the state came in 2 mill under what they wanted and then this other company expressed interest in buying the whole lot. I figured this was coming as they had been logging more than normal the past few years and doing more clear cuts than they used to do.
Re: Anderson Tully
Heck, on most bottomland they've been selling, they've been keeping 30 years of timber rights. I don't really think aggressive harvests are an indicator of anything. That's just a guess, though.
I know one thing, they missed the boat on high land prices in Jefferson cty. They shoulda unloaded some land down there 5-10 years ago, if they were speculating.
I'll be interested to see the Commission's Nov meeting minutes posted.

Re: Anderson Tully
If Tully sells all of their land what is going to happen to all of the hunting clubs they have been leasing to all of these years? All of the good ole boy leases that have been going on for years are going to be up for the highest bidder?

New owner will tell them they have XX days to pack up and get out. Happens all the time.

Re: Anderson Tully
It doesn't happen all of the time to this many acres and this many clubs.
Re: Anderson Tully
When they sold to TFG in '06 or so, nothing happened with the leases. When they sell land to individuals, clubs have weeks to get out. That's been happening a fair amount up and down the river, but not on a scale that's being talked about now. This is different.

Grew up on and am still a member of an ATCo lease. Hoping that's not the case but guess it is what it is.deltadukman wrote:ScottBrown wrote:If Tully sells all of their land what is going to happen to all of the hunting clubs they have been leasing to all of these years? If it goes to the state, it will impact tons of folks in "the sump." Some of the oldest deer clubs in the state. If all of ATCo sells, probably no big deal.

Re: Anderson Tully
Our camp prez says that he's heard a lumber company has come in and bought pretty much everything that ATCo owns and is supposedly shutting down the mill in Vicksburg Jan 1. Might be a wild rumor but if so, makes me think the individual clubs like ours may be okay maybe. Also if true, not sure how or if it affects the sump area around the WMA discussed above. ATCo may have or may be working on selling it to the state separate. I know we just renewed a 5 year lease this past year through ATCo so not sure how all that works with it changing hands if true. Anybody heard anything similar?

Yep, I know several people’s families that have been hunting over there since the 30’s.stang67 wrote:If it goes to the state, it will impact tons of folks in "the sump." Some of the oldest deer clubs in the state. If all of ATCo sells, probably no big deal.
Re: Anderson Tully
I didn't realize it before doing some reading last night, but a few years ago, ATCo was in pretty serious talks to sell something like 65k acres in the Big Island area of AR to expand a major NWR there. For reasons my research hasn't revealed, the deal fizzled.
ETA. We even discussed it here. http://www.ducksouth.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=112909

Why can a fella not name the wma that may get enlarged? It's not like you can't go to the game and fish site and look em all up.
