Baptist Hospital Daycare reading material...
So whatever happened to "Sam had a cat," or "The cow took a bow"?
My wife's BF's child (and our godson) is in the daycare at the Baptist Hospital in Jackson. She sent her these screenshots of their reading list for this month:

Pretty sure that is a grandma, daughter, and granddaughter and also a grandfather, son, and grandson… I would have to read the book before I could pass judgment on the book...

As the title indicates, a smiling tot describes his role within a nurturing two-dad family. In rhyming text, “Daddy helps me paint the sky. / Papa helps me bake a pie,” and so on till bedtime. Thompson provides warm, mixed-media illustrations of the happy trio against clean white backgrounds as they play and keep house together. Together with the corresponding Mommy, Mama, and Me (ISBN: 978-1-58246-263-9), it gives children with single-sex parents validation of their family structures in a healthy, positive way. Although it’s not mentioned in the text, the illustrations in each one gently point to mixed-race households as well. Toddlers with two moms or two dads don’t care about gender politics, they care about love, and this is what these two books give them. (12-36 mos.)

My wife used to work in surgery there before our son was born, and still has a lot of friends there. Supposedly, Baptist in Jackson was bought out by the Baptist Hospital group that owns the one in Oxford. They may still be in a transition phase. I also don't think they are tied in with the church either.

Re: Baptist Hospital Daycare reading material...
Yes that's the Baptist hospital in Jackson. So much for the "Baptist" in Baptist hospital. And yes I'm aware of the fact that, while many hospitals are named with an affiliation to the Christian faith and its saints, said hospital (s) may or may not use Biblical scripture as their basis for operating (kind of like legions of individuals who do the same).
That said, instead of teaching children to read, or learn about, say, things that ought to be learned about, they are learning about something that is pushed as normal. We accept that the sun rises. We accept that the month of August in Mississippi is hot- those are factual matters that just "are". Since mommy= daddy and vise versa is normal, why are they learning about it? Because they are looking for verification from the world regarding their conscience (uh-oh) decisions- that's why. I don't care if you're a goober smoocher, but don't push it on me to "support" it.
What does that even mean- "support it?"
I "support" cuddling with cute puppies and roughhousing with my hot wife; I "support" the consumption of a USDA Prime beef. I support progressing in my fight with the self and with the evil of the world and NOT regressing and wallowing in it. I don't care if you're gay. I don't care if you sin differently than me, but I also won't "support" it. I can't because I'm commanded not to. Just like I can't "support" heterosexuals going out and living their life of regression, I cannot support the homosexual. Just like I can't "support" the fact that 57% of pastors struggled with pornography currently or in the past, and just like I cannot "support" my own sins, I cannot support the sins of others. LGBT's are not special regarding this. Stop being narcissists. You scared bro?
My worldview means I cannot support this. We are guided by our worldview, but what about my worldview? A classic, effective, factual argument of the Biblical Apologetic warriors out there, in response to the postmodernist's view of "live and let live" is, " Why doesn't this apply to me, a Christian?" By the laws of logic (which, by the way, are laws as binding as the laws of gravity) these individuals have contradicted themselves by holding the position that a dad can be a mom and a mom can be a dad, and if you disagree- if you do anything OTHER than "support" that worldview- you're wrong.
Their argument is: "A" = "B" BUT "B" ≠ "A". That is a contradiction, and, therefore, their worldview is baseless. It is ignorant, and it is null. It is shallow, and, to be honest, what makes a "supporter's" worldview so special? Again, you scared bro?
Yeah I'm ranting, but at the end of the day it's just sick that people are this selfish and shortsighted. The truth will prevail, and that ought to scare the folks who think it's a good idea to indoctrinate children in order to, in a sick twisted way, bring said people a sense of self-justification- verification- of their worldview. The matter is settled. It is the law of the land. Why this, then?
Because it's comes down to the fact that all men have The Truth written on their hearts so no person can say they are blameless. The truth is known, and again, the truth will prevail...and the truth is, this is BS. There will come a day where this sort of nonsense will backfire, and for those who'll wind up with poo on their face: Woe unto you for causing division and confusion.

And yes, I looked up the books before I let the distaste settle in.
And the book description "it gives children...validation" should be clarified to say it gives adults validation. As if a 2 year is searching for validation. Pure, unadulterated BS.

Re: Baptist Hospital Daycare reading material...
I recently spent a good bit of time at St. Dominic's and each morning over the intercom they held daily prayer. It was a surprise but a good one given today's lack of prayer etc in most venues. I am curious if you had a child in the Baptist run daycare if you could have your child held away from participating in those readings etc? I know in public schools they basically no longer have Christmas parties where Christ is in any way associated. It's ok for Santa Claus but not anything associated with relegion. I am blessed I have at least been able to provide my child with at least 4 years of a really great Christian daycare. I know things will drastically change soon.

It is no secret to this board that we have locked horns before on more than one issue. But I gotta say this out loud and in front of everybody. You are 100% correct on this. Every point is accurate. Every point is valid. Very well said.greenheadgrimreaper wrote:Yes that's the Baptist hospital in Jackson. So much for the "Baptist" in Baptist hospital. Problem is if the employee calls out the hospital for requiring their child to read pro homosexual literature then the employee becomes a possible target of HR or admin for discrimination or intolerance. Double edged sword.
