Re: Ask DS
I like the Nikon Monarch series if you are not wanting to break the bank. Also the Cabela's Euro HD are a great option. I know that Vortex is making quality glass right now and I have several of their scopes that I love but havent looked through a pair of bino's yet. It all depends how much you are willing to spend on a quality set of glass.

Re: Ask DS
I've had Leupolds, still got them. 10x42 gold rings. they are decent.
however - i bought a pair of swarovski 10x42 EL's and there is absolulty no comparison.
If i were getting a new pair, it would be Vortex, Meopta, Zeiss, or if you have some $$$ to spend get the Swaro's

Re: Ask DS
The Cabelas euro HD binos get great reviews, and they're marked way down right now. The Zeiss Conquest seem to be well respected. I intend to probably get a pair of those in the next year or so.
Re: Ask DS
I have a pair of Meopta 10x42HD. I was told that the Cabelas Euro HD is the same thing, just branded for Cabelas. I have looked thru all of them during daylight and the Meopta is right up there with the more expensive brands. Can't speak for the others at dusk, but the Meopta is very good at low light. My advice would be, get the best you can afford. Most all of them have lifetime warranties, so as long as you keep up with them, they should last you a lifetime.
Oh, and one more piece of advice, get good boots and break them in BEFORE you go out west. Your feet will thank you.

Re: Ask DS
I've had Zeiss Conquest binos for several years. Crystal clear and durable. I'd buy them again.
Never assume.
Re: Ask DS
Get a new credit card. Get the swaro with range finder. Tank me later.
No, i don't want to know you ---- teul
Re: Ask DS
You should look through my Vortex bino's before you buy
Re: Ask DS
I bought a pair for my elk hunt last year, and ended up getting the Vortex Talon 10x42. Enough power for out west, and still usable in MS woods.
