I'm headed to Central Florida next week, for my first Osceola hunt. I have a buddy from college that has a large cattle operation south of Orlando.
Any suggestions, other than snake boots, bug spray and a Therma cell for both hips?
How does an Osceola compare to hunting our hard-headed Easterns?

hunted twice in Seminole Forest just North of Orlando, never seen a snake and never needed anything different from regular MS hunt. My experience was about same as an Eastern, gobbled little more when interested...flatter so you didn't have the hill turkeys, that was easier.

They are a lot more vocal after fly up in the evenings than Mississippi easterns. I'd try to roost every evening if I were you.

Not quite as loud as easterns. Be careful setting up. Private land osceola's compare to private land easterns from my experience.

Re: In search of the Osceola
My buddy who lives there said that this time of year is typically foggy in the mornings, so the birds are not as vocal early. He said the afternoons might be more productive.
Looks like the weather will be favorable, about the same as here maybe slightly warmer. He said they have been experiencing drought conditions, which I found strange for Florida. You would think they would have wet springs like we have most years. They have not had much rain since October down there.
According to him they see more rattlesnakes when it is cooler than when it is hot, given they like to sun themselves. Makes sense, I guess. I would be fine not seeing a single one
I connected on a spunky 2yr old this morning. Gobbled 5 times and walked right in just like I like it. 10 min hunt from first gobble to gun shot. Too bad these easy days are few and far between.

Re: In search of the Osceola
It was a successful few days in Central Florida. We came home with two birds and I have decided to mount mine. I don't have a full body turkey mount, so I figured this will be a good one to remember the trip with...
