The wife and I are thinking of getting an outdoor kitchen/patio cover deal over our uncovered patio, roughly 20'x20'. It is on the west side of the house, with no shade, and virtually un-usable during the summer.....hotter than the surface of the sun back there.
Problem is - house is L-shaped, eaves are about 9', and cover will either have to tie into house on 2 sides, or roof of cover will extend over the existing house roof on 2 sides - therefore dumping all the water onto our house and possibly overflowing house gutters.
Now after searching the internet, it seems that the only people that "specialize" in this type of thing are landscaper-type people. No offense to any landscapers on here, but I don't really want to trust a landscaper to tie into my roof...
Question is: Anyone on here have anything similar done, or can recommend anyone to do such work?

Need a framer to look. Probably put a gable on and run a cricket or 2 out.

Would something like this be an option:

They have one in the Hattiesburg store similar to this that has a copper colored roof, heavy post and bracing, looks really good.

Agreed, I'm looking for something more permanent. Something like below. Not sure on the gable vs single slope just yet.99beers wrote:60 mph winds and that baby is gone...........

Gable is going to look nicer. But you are going to have a hell of a lot of water coming out of that valley.
Single slope will cost less. And water run off will probably be easier to manage.

Looking for 2 duck calls from Dominic Serio of Greenwood (ones for Novacaine)

Agreed. Will probably end up doing a hipped roof on that end to match the house. Was thinking gable with open framing, but will be a nightmare to keep spiderwebs, wasps, & dirt dauber outta there.teul2 wrote:Gable is going to look nicer. How about an attached pergola?

Re: Outdoor Kitchen/Patio Cover
Not interested in a pergola. Wanting something that will provide more shade, and will also be useful when raining.
