Controversial subject.....opinions, please.....
Re: Controversial subject.....opinions, please.....
I know a few gay people, I have no problem with them, but it aint right. No amount of rationalizing it will change what the bible says about it, try as you may. Not saying all gays are going to hell or anything, just that it is a sin, just like any other, don't try to tell me it aint. You can tell yourself whatever you want, but don't piss on my head and tell me it's raining.
That's all I have to say bout that

Re: Controversial subject.....opinions, please.....
The bible says that the Holy Spirit of God convicts us when we do wrong. It's that feeling you get when you know you are doing something that goes against the will of God. I'm not here to preach to you, I'm just giving you the facts. Don't come to me proclaiming the name of the Lord and in the same breath tell me you are homosexual. If you do not remove yourself from the sin then you are rejecting or blaspheming the Holy Spirit of God that is convicting you of that sin. There is only one unpardonable sin. If you are homosexual and you ask for forgiveness for that sin but continue to boldly proclaim your homosexuality then what does that mean? There is no scientific or biblical proof of anyone being born with homosexual desires. Those desires are of Satan himself and they must be rejected. I wasn't born to desire chugging a case of beer, or born with the desire to lay with every good looking woman I see, those are temptations that the devil puts on us. The Holy Spirit tells us to rethink it.....sometimes we listen and sometimes we don't. If you guys think someone is born homosexual then all I can do is pray for you. There is no factual basis for your reasoning so I can't reason with you.

Re: Controversial subject.....opinions, please.....
We condemn "other sinners" all day long, it just isn't being pushed as hard on us to accept that as normal from the PC/left wingers (although many sins are being pushed). For example, check out the general discussion page, first topic comes to mine is I HATE A THIEF. How many topics have we had bashing Liars, (particularly ones that scammed members through duck hunting deals. How about topics where adults have chastised youth, took the Lords name in vain and yet use I am a Christian in their defense (Who remembers that epic post). Bottom line is as a society I believe we do look at other sins harshly, I know my family does. The problem is as fireplug pointed out is that members of our society want to CHANGE homosexuality from being viewed as a sin. We don't get to CHANGE the classifications of sin. We only get the opportunity through Grace to try to turn from sin and follow Jesus. It is really that simple, either you walk with him or you don't. We are all sinners, we ask for forgiveness and TRY to not be tempted.Blackduck wrote:I don't think it is as much of a choice as many would think. I believe you are born predisposed to a certain sexuality. Predisposed by your brain and how it's made. God made us all and he loves us all. Even the gay ones. 1Cor describes a long list of sinners. None are judged as harshly as homosexuals.
If you have a homosexual friend or family member they deserve love just like everyone else. If you do think it's a sin then ask yourself what other sinners won't you show love and grace too?
Just a bit of a different opinion

you aren't going to change the boy no matter what you believe. I've almost come to the conclusion that i don't care what other grown folks do as long as it doesn't effect my life.
Re: Controversial subject.....opinions, please.....
I don't mean to hijack the post, but for grins and giggles, how about we make a list of sins we are familiar with to see what all the Good Book says thou shalt do and thous shall not do.
and for each one, include the scripture (book and verse) which deems the action or omission as a sin.

Re: Controversial subject.....opinions, please.....
Let me be clear, I don't care what other grown men do, (except when it's in my house or on my property.) My responsibility is to tell them the truth, the rest is up to them. No man ever changes anyone spiritually anyway, that's the job of the Holy Spirit.hntrpat1 wrote:you aren't going to change the boy no matter what you believe. We just have to remember that Grace is what saved us. No what we do, or don't do, but His grace. We need to show that same grace to others. Without it, we are all lost

Re: Controversial subject.....opinions, please.....
I wonder if being gay is worse than looking at porn? In God's eyes it is not,I don't think.
I think the answer here is addressing a person that struggles with either, acknowledging the struggle is real and telling them, "hey, you get enjoyment from this lifestyle...let me show you something that is even better."
This is when you show them God through scripture via the Gospel. Let the Holy Spirit work from there and pray for them.
I don't think you convince a person struggling with any sexual sin that it's not enjoyable simply by pointing out it's wrong. You have to show them something better and trust God to handle it from there.

"But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart." Jesus Christ- Matthew 5:28
Also, wonder if being gay is worse than being divorced/remarried?
"Whoever divorces his wife and marries another commits adultery against her; 12 and if she divorces her husband and marries another, she commits adultery."Jesus Christ- Mark 10:11-12
Adultery is on the Top Ten list, yet, how many of us would allow a divorced/remarried friend in their home, but not the gay friend?
Re: Controversial subject.....opinions, please.....
So, what if their spouse dies, and they re-marry???.....they are still "re-married", and some churches won't allow a re-married man to be either a pastor or a deacon, regardless of the reason they re-married.
Re: Controversial subject.....opinions, please.....
So it CAN be done? Hmmmm...I've been called some pretty horrible names for suggesting that this is doable.Smoke68 wrote:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mCLms7J84JYfireplug wrote:Satan is the master of deceit. Would you tell this man the same thing? That he has "chosen" to be attracted to men even though he is taking his identity in Christ's teachings and is not acting on his desires of the flesh, instead affirming the pursuing of his desires as sins of the flesh?

Re: Controversial subject.....opinions, please.....
Divorce is permissible if a spouse is unfaithful. Matthew 19:9, or if the spouse dies. 1 Corinthians 7:39. Divorce is also authorized if an unbelieving spouse abandons a believer according to 1 Corinthians 7:15.gps4 wrote:does it have to be porn....Deltamud77 wrote:I wonder if being gay is worse than looking at porn? Re: Controversial subject.....opinions, please.....
That's a church thing...tradition. The Bible does not necessarily condemn it. They get it from their own interpretation of 1 Timothy 3:12dukluk wrote:So, what if their spouse dies, and they re-marry???.....they are still "re-married", and some churches won't allow a re-married man to be either a pastor or a deacon, regardless of the reason they re-married.
