Hawaii
thinking of booking our 10 year anniversary to Maui.
would also look at booking a two day bow hunt for axis deer - already have a few leads on that.
any input on a resort in Maui ? anyone recommend a travel agent ??

Re: Hawaii
I'm your huckleberry. Headed to Maui in November and already working on a turkey hunt with this guy to help accomplish my "kill a turkey in every state goal".

Doing my research and asking around, he is the guy, legit and super helpful. You'll most likely have to hop a plane to the big island for anything other than axis. Patrick Fisher has been very helpful in getting this accomplished. There is a little language barrier there but not too much.
We are staying at the Fairmont Kea Lani around Kannapali. The friends we are going with and their family have stayed there several times and they like it. They have a book 4 nights get the 5th free. We are staying 10 nights. American Airlines out of Jackson wasn't unreasonable compared to Memphis or New Orleans. We booked ours last night as a matter of fact. Delta Flights are more expensive and they get you there a lot later in the day. Most delta arrive at 5pm or after and ours arrives at 12ish and has one layover. Let me know if you have any other questions and ill let you know what I've found. Sunrise trip up Haleakala is one we're doing, possibly road to Hanna but have heard mixed reviews on that.

PS: Bring your checkbook plus some. There is nothing cheap about anything over there!

Re: Hawaii
For what it is worth, it is worth the extra $$ to fly first class. My wife and I made the trip and it is too long flying coach. I was on the phone midflight trying to upgrade to first class.

Re: Hawaii
My spouse and I are headed that way in 4 weeks for our 10 year anniversary. We are actually vacationing on the big island and I've got a turkey hunt booked at the Parker Ranch the second day I'm there. You are right, ain't nothing cheap there. Hell it cost like $25/day to park your rental car at the place we are staying.

Re: Hawaii
Chop, not sure if yall need the rental car the whole time yall are there, but from a friend who has been to maui a few times, he recommended just getting a day rental jeep as needed and not keeping one the whole time. Not sure if things are different on the big island vs. maui or not as far as availability.
Re: Hawaii
I've got rental car for free, so I'm not too worried about it.

Re: Hawaii
Flying coach is fine until you get seated next to someone who weighs 340 lbs. There's no way some people can fit into that 20 inch seat. When the lady next to you asks for the seatbelt extension, it's going to be a long flight.

Re: Hawaii
I see where some want to go to the Big Island. If you do, stay at Hilton Waikoloa Village. We have a place there thru Hilton Grand Vacations and love it. The Duck Dynasty Hawaii episode was filmed there.....as was the one where Dog the Bounty Hunter gets married. It has a bunch of cool stuff to do.
Re: Hawaii
On the Big Island we stayed at the Mauna lani and loved it. I would recommend getting a jeep if at all possible.
