Ok, I have GOT to get some new tires for my daily driver. I have always had better luck with cheap, no-name, Ajax tires than I have with the big-name brands. Will I go off road in this thing? Occasionally at best. 99 44/100% of my driving will be on paved roads, but since the family wants a boat, I had better get tires that can give me traction on a wet boat ramp.
My questions are: What tires do you recommend for all around general knock-about driving? I don't mean the good tires you have on your wife's car. I am talking about good ole basic tires. And also, where did you get them?
Thanks.

Nobody owes you anything.

Look at the Nexen A/T, got 39k on a set with at least 20k more, set of 285/65 20 were 600 bucks. I can buy 2 sets of them for one of the big names.

Give these a look.
General Grabber AT2.
Price will vary, depending on the size you need,
but they are good tires for the price.
Price them on tirerack.com.
I get mine straight from the factory, but you'll probably have to go elsewhere.

Inner redneck coming out...BUT...Buckshot Maxxis Mudders. Best and cheap tires all day long. I can run two sets for the price you'll pay. I've got a set of 35"s on my landcrusier and I paid around $900 I think.

Not to hijack your thread here, but what kind of tires would some of you guys say run on a 3/4 ton duramax? I'm bout to have to get new tires as well and tired of paying outrageous prices to have them last 40k miles or so?

Stacy i just replaced my Grabber AT2 and got 70k miles out of them and still have decent tread left. I went back with the same exact tire on my Titan.

I just got a set of Ironman All Country AT tires mounted and balanced at USA tire in Richland for $550. They ride great on pavement and are not loud. So far, they have done well in minor mud, wet roads and the ice the other day. I've got 10k on them now and can't even tell they have been used.

3/4 tons are harder on tires. I have been using Firestone destination a/t load range E on my super duty. I get alittle more than 50,000 miles on them. I put a set of maxis buck shots on it one time and don't think I quite made it to 15,000 miles before they were slick. I pretty much only use that truck for towing so they see a hard life.420 racin wrote:Not to hijack your thread here, but what kind of tires would some of you guys say run on a 3/4 ton duramax? I got over 50,000 miles on bfg at , they still had tread left just got noisy. I have Goodyear duratrac tires on my half ton now and they are probably 7-8 years old and have done very well, very quiet for how aggressive the tread is. Would have to look at my log to see how many miles are on them.
