perfect, no ducks
perfect, no ducks
Here is the situation:
We have a lease north of Greenwood. In that lease and next to a (usually) flooded cypress brake that typically holds tons of ducks is a 8 acre field that is not used for farming. It is tucked in a corner, surrounded by the brake on 2 sides. This year we planted the entire 8 acres in rice, have flooded it. The catch is that it doesnt hold ducks until February, and when it does, it is full of ducks... FULL.But during the season, its a ghost-town. What are we doing wrong? Is there a way to get ducks in there earlier than after the season?
thanks!

lets hear it...
Re: perfect, no ducks
it gets ducks in feb because everybody else has pulled boards.
Re: perfect, no ducks
So the ducks are looking for H2O and we still have it, plus some food.... got it. Would you expect this field to perform better with changes in management? If so, what could you do?

Re: perfect, no ducks
Hey Bigwater, we've had the lease for 4 years. It always has ducks in February, so ducks like it....just not when we can shoot them. It's the x in February, wondering if we could do something to help it be the x in Dec/Jan. Thanks for your help guys.
