Dwights Deer Processing

Postby Unlucky Duck » Tue Dec 13, 2016 1:46 pm

I love Dwight's but with the new hours it puts me in a bind. I had heard a story that his ex-wife also has a processing business. Does anyone know anything about it and shed some light.

drove all the way out there from Rolling Fork, 90 miles the youth Saturday and found him closed. That's crazy! Busiest time of the year and busiest day and you are closed?

What's his hours. I was planning on taking a deer to him tomorrow after work but if he isn't opening I'll take it to the guy on 49.

I think it's called the buck shop. It's in Pocahontas. I've gotten sausage there for two years and it's been good.

Once upon a time it was S & D (Stacie & Dwight) Deer Processing, then the S and the D split up and so did the businesses. Stacie stayed in the original location and Dwight moved to Hwy 18. I no longer live in the area but would use Stacie over Dwight hands down.

There is a guy north of Carrollton on Hwy 35 that is supposed to be pretty good. I cant remember the name of the place, but he has a sign on the highway at Holcomb. I'll look this afternoon and get back to you.

DeWayne's. I've heard mixed reviews. when he first opened they were all the rave. about 2 years ago one of the links of summer sausage a guy got was rotten on the inside. That was the last I heard about his deer processing. His butcher shop stuff is on point though. Stuffed pork chops, stuffed chicken breast, and boudin have all been good that I have bought.

There are 2 deer processors in Greenwood. BB's and Turner's. I have been disenchanted with BB's as I don't think I get nearly all my meat and the sausage is just ok. Took one deer to Turner's this year for a very basic processing. They cleaned and gutted the deer for $25. Then all i wanted was burger and as many tenderized steaks as they could get. That was $75. Only complaint was I wanted the back straps whole, but they cut them in two and didn't seem to get very much of it off the deer. They were only like 6 or 8 inches long each. Where I know I can get a back strap out and it be almost 2.5ft long.

Dwight did limit his hours. The way he explained it to me was first, he wanted to be off on Sunday. Second, he didn't like dealing with customers on Saturday night when they had been at camp having adult beverages for a couple days. I can't blame a man for either of those.

He helps us out tremendously by donating processing services for a Wounded Warrior hunt in January where we cook for close to 100 people including warriors, their families, cameramen, landowners, etc. Shorter hours or not, he will get my business.
