Look into the Rem 120 Grain HP. Wicked on whitetail.

Lotta folks rave about 120 gr Nosler Ballistic Tips. Word is that they hold together much better than what you'd expect from that bullet, and I've seen cutaways that indeed show a much thicker jacket than other weight ballistic tips. With that said, for my one and only experience, the bullet didn't hold together well. But the deer died quickly.
Im trying to find a load using 120 TTSXs that shoot well now.
Check out 24hourcampfire. Tons and tons of 7-08 fans there. The ballistic tip and ttsx are favorites.

If they make a factory round with the Hornady SST, I would suggest that one. I think they should hold together perfectly at 708 velocities. I use them in my 280 Remington and have no complaints.

I have found my gun shoots the Hornady 139 gr SST the best.. It does not like the federal ammo at all
Re: new encore barrel 7-08
echoing whats already been said. the hornady 139 gr superformance in SST or GMX are amazing.

for exmaple you could kill a 4 greenheads (two banded), a mallard/black cross, and a mallard/gaddy cross and smash a hot blonde on the way back to the ramp and call it a hell of a day

I'm thinking the same thing. i thought i had one and a 25-06 in the corner in my safe....and now can't find the 7-08. I was trying to figure out which one my 10 year old would prefer. It's time for him to move up from the 6.8 spc.peewee wrote:Rick where and what barrrl did you get. I'm thinking of getting a 7mm-08 for my encore.

I have several different bullets in the Nosler Ballistic Tips. One of the issues i always found, was that if the bullet didn't hit bone, the bullet would stay together. I didn't get the devastation that everyone talks about.stang67 wrote:Lotta folks rave about 120 gr Nosler Ballistic Tips. I killed my second buck with the 120 BTs Friday. Bullet hit the front shoulder and lodged just beneath the skin on the off side. Perfect copper mushroom, and it was one of only a couple deer I've killed that dropped on the spot. The first buck I killed with that bullet, the bullet did not stay together. And if I hit bone, it was only a rib. Go figure.Deltaquack wrote: I have several different bullets in the Nosler Ballistic Tips.
