Alabama vs Ole Miss Predictions
I really don't know what to think about this game. Alabama has yet to show that they can consistently run the ball or make long sustained drives. They have been living by the big play on offense. The Ole Miss DL will give the Bama OL a hard time as it is not your normal Bama OL. Hurts seems to hold the ball too long and wait for the WR to get open instead of anticipating it, same for waiting too long before running. We all know what the Ole Miss offense is capable of when firing on all cylinders. I think the Rebels secondary will look much improved from FSU game as those new guys will have more reps under their belt. Both teams have great talent at DL but not a lot of experienced depth. Just seems this game sets up a little better for Ole Miss. That being said it is really hard to beat any Saban team 3 in a row so guess I pick Bama 31-28.
Re: Alabama vs Ole Miss Predictions
While I'd love to see OM pull off another upset, just to see Saban's reaction if for no other reason, I can't see it happening this year. I think Bama is simply too deep and talented, the only way you beat a team like this is catch most of the breaks and don't make mistakes. Reb luck is running thin so far and they have a lot of young kids on the field = mega pressure.
On the other hand, if OM can sting them early, they just might lose their cool.

Re: Alabama vs Ole Miss Predictions
Ole Miss needs to keep their O on the field longer to keep from gassing their D. If they can find a way to do that, I feel like they'll make a game of it. If not, it could be a repeat of the 2nd half of the FSU game all over again. I'd love to see how Saban would react to a 3rd straight loss to Ole Miss though!

Yesterday on H2H the statement was made, several times: If bama only manages 138 on the ground (what they had vs WKY), they lose, period.
OM has to control the ball and not give short field opportunities.

Re: Alabama vs Ole Miss Predictions
If Chad Kelly can convert 5+ third down conversions with his feet, Ole Miss will win the game. Saban's defense is best when it can drop 5 to 7 into coverage on 3rd down and get pressure with three or four lineman/linebackers. To do this, they don't account for the QB.
You have to have a QB that can run and can also throw accurately. See Chris Leak, Manziel, Bo, Kelly last year, Clemson's QB (even though they lost close), Ohio State's QB and even Jordan Jefferson.
If Kelly can convert 3rd downs with his feet, it will open up some big plays over the top on third down in the second half and Ole Miss will win the game.
I think OM beats Bama in another close one....38-34.

Normally heavy rain would be in Bamas favor but this team has not shown to have the typical running game. Yes I know that is not what you meant by your comment.eSJay wrote:in that case, sabear winscamlock wrote:90% chance of rain, heavy rain....

Danny Kannel called Bama the lock of the century yesterday on this game. I don't know if he was talking against the spread or straight up...I think the spread is 10.5....either way, I pretty much agree with Kannel, I think Bama wins this game by 13+ and I'm not sure it's really in question beyond 3rd quarter...

Re: Alabama vs Ole Miss Predictions
Im not sure we know enough about either team at this point to really make too good a prediction. There are a few givens though:
1. Chad Kelly is a playmaker and a great quarterback
2. Alabama's defense is the real deal and could be best yet.
3. OM defense line appears to be really good
The unknowns
OM offense line is full of talent but had a lot of trouble blocking the guy from FSU. Demarcus something
Alabama's running game. Which could be due to WK fully committing to stopping the run at all cost. This is the first time in Saban's time in T town that they have replaced the Center, RB, and QB all in one season. That is the main drag on the running game.

Just when you think it's impossible to top the performance against fsu it happens again. This one hurt worse.
