Live bream. I catch a lot of 15-30# fish, but this is the biggest so far...he's still not the fish I'm after, though. Before I'm through I need a 50+...I'm well on my way though. 8)

That's awesome. I wish I could find a spot to the Rez to do that.

Man, the hooks I use, if he straightens one out, he can have the hook, line, and the pole too, cause I want no part of him  . I use 8/0 stainless steel big eye hooks from BPS. I think they're BPS brand, but they are very stout, heavy duty hooks that I'm not sure I could bend with pliers.

How are you rigging your live bream? Is it like a Carolina rig or something different?

I'll try to remember to post a pic after work, but yes, it's a Carolina rig. 50# monofilament with about an 18" leader of 40# monofilament, a 1 oz egg sinker (fishing slow water, an eddy, actually), a barrel swivel, and 8/0 stainless steel hook. I use a reel with a free spool clicker thingamajig and let the fish take line. Flatheads are generally pretty soft biters (at least where I fish) and if they feel tension, they tend to drop the bait. Let em take it, then engage the gears and cross his eyes. Hook the bream through the tail or back third of his body. Some folks hook through the nostrils I think, but not me. Caught 3 more 15 lb'ers Wednesday evening.

Nice, congrats! I just bought a 21 foot Center Console and I want to take some of my saltwater gear and try for some of those big ones.
