currently, i've got a small semi-circle patio that is in pretty bad shape. i'd like to (a)replace it, or (b)add on to it and resurface the existing patio so that the small semi-circle would be a 20x15 rectangle.
if i decide to just replace it, what can i expect the materials and installation to cost?
homewyse.com suggests a 15x20 would be between $1100 and $1500. does this sound right?

Re: looking to replace patio
I got several quotes from local contractors last fall for a 15x18 patio and never built it. Prices ranged from $2,100 to $2,700, but I know it was higher than average because the access to my back yard is limited. They were going to have to haul out 3.5 yds of dirt and haul in 3.5 yds of concrete with Georgia buggies or wheel barrows.
One jack-booty quoted me $4,000

Re: looking to replace patio
Are y'all just talking about a concrete slab?
Re: looking to replace patio
Yes, just a slab.
Re: looking to replace patio
Location and access can make a difference. Around here, a small slab like that, $3-4/sf for a 4" slab with a light broom finish (you do not want a slick finish on a patio....). Stamped and stained can run twice that.
Make sure you specify 3500 psi concrete with air, and make sure they give you a full 4", not a 2x4's worth. That's 3.5 inches at the max. Wire is better than fiber, even better is #4 rebar at 2' on center each way.

You got a really good deal. I need a neighbor like that. You got roughly 13 yds of concrete assuming 4" thick and no footings. Probably more like 15-16 yds. That's $1600-$2000 in concrete alone......jdbuckshot wrote:my neighbor just poured my slab, he is a professional concrete finished.

I do have a good neighbor - he really only does commercial jobs - just did mine to give his help something to do when they were a little slow.
I already had asphault in my shop floor - so he just poured 3.5" over it.
