Matador- Davis isn't outfishing you yet is he? He picked up casting awfully fast. Glad to hear yall have officially caught the bug!

He is quickly becoming efficient. He's having some trouble with getting any length to his cast because he won't pause. Thought i'd bring up one saturday mornign adn let Ian help him. Of course, I don't know what I'm talking about!

I fly fish for bream pretty hard. Went to sinking flies with a strike indicator for the first time last year. It is more like "traditional" fly fishing in that you strip the line to jig the fly under water. I got a lot more hits using the sinking fly. This year I'm going to replace the indicator with a dry fly and see what happens.

Any of you tried fishing a popping bug or floating fly with a sinking line or shooting head? The length of the mono leader determines how far off the bottom your bug works. It's a fun technique for when the fish head deeper in summer.
Never assume.

I used a popping bug with a San Juan worm under it. Wore them out on the beds two weeks ago. Interesting note, there was no strong difference as to which one they hit. Caught them about 50/50 on each.

They can be picky sometimes. I tie 2' leader to bite of popper hook w/ clinch knot and follow with chironomids. Matches the hatch...

Sometimes the delicate approach fails and a small loud popper paused/popped gets the bulls to strike.

Nice! I've fished "hopper/dropper", but never "popper/dropper". I'll be giving that a try.
Never assume.
