Motorized Decoys

Let's don't turn this into a big controversy about why you should or shouldn't use them. My little brother is a gadget addict. He really enjoys tinkering and building. My Dad wants to get him one of these motorized jobs for his spread. I personally don't use them because I'm too tight to buy one but I have hunted with other people who do. There are several to choose from and I'm wondering which you prefer and why. Be sure to include why you like the one you do.

I have one (fatal deducktion) and I use it most of the time. One fault, rechargeable battery works well for @2 hours and then wings go really sloooooow. I'm not sold on them except on days when you have alot of competition from other spreads or its a bit foggy, otherwise I think if you have some wigglers and can call, thats all you need (besides ducks). I think in those situations, a spinner might give you a bit of an edge. It still comes down to calling and I suck so I use a spinner.....

me and my little brother just bought two Lucky Ducks. they work extremly well. has rechargable battery, but will last all day. we have used ours from daylight to dark on the same charge. never even got slow for one second. they have direct driven motors and are real real quiet. i had a Robo Duk before the Lucky Duck. Lucky beats the Robo hands down. we use ours alot because we are hunting public land and it is not unusual to have someone come in and set up within a 100 yards or so from you. i put it this way, last sun. morn we had three guys set up within a hundred yards of us. we limitied out by 11:00 and they never fired a shot.

We have tried several brands they all seem to work, the one i like best is the wonderduck, the main reason is that it will run on 1 d cell for quite some time. The one we used last year ran for 3-4 weeks on the same battery.
Just my thoughts.

I also use the lucky duck. Will outdo the mojo and wonderduck easily. I purchased the remote and all. Real nice setup with a plugin charger so you don't have to remove battery from duck. I also use a homeade mallard machine. It also works wonders with skiddish ducks. It can be a hassle on public land where it must be taken up and put back in the boat wich is already full with other gadgets though. If I were you I would add a lucky duck to your arsenal. I think most people who whine about motion decoys are those who can't afford them.

I would disagree with that last statement rather profoundly.
