Home made stands
Any of you ever build anything like this? If so do you have any tips dos and dont's? Any plans or rough estimate of cost? I do not need them to be very tall as they would be going on ridges over looking bottoms. Have come to the realization that I can no longer hung out of cheap uncomfortable ladder stands. Was looking into some of the more comfortable stands but also need a large platform with lots of legroom as I am 6'5". Just can't really find what I am looking for so thinking about going this route.

I hear you. I used to be gung ho, hunted out of climbers or mobile loc ons or on foot. Nowadays, I'm liable to have a kid with me or just want to sit all day in relative comfort.

don't attach something like that to a tree. let it be freestanding next to a tree. trees grow and will change the way that stand sits. better to have it on its own.

Yeah I was thinking of using ratchet straps so that we could move or adjust.

A little incline goes a LONG way. I hate climbing vertical 2x4 ladders. Just a 10-15 degree offset makes a huge difference in making it easy to go up and down.

pretty simple plans, you can always modify if needed

I agree on the free standing, I would never use a tree (especially a pine).. I built my first shooting house this year and plan on building many more.. I have seen more deer out of my shooting house than I have seen out of any climbing or loc on stands.. I can sit much longer, conceal my movements, scent control, even run a heater on those really cold days
I used the elevators and they worked like a charm..
