Sunglasses - best kind and best prices

Postby SB » Tue Dec 22, 2015 8:52 pm

I lost my Costas and need to replace them. I liked them and would buy another pair, but there might be better or as good glasses out there. What do you recommend and where is the best place to buy them. Thanks!

SB go to professional Eyecare associates in Brandon on hwy 80. I am one of the owners... Message me before you go and I'll get the girls to fix you up.

I wear costas but I really like Maui lenses just can't find a frame that looks right on me. The lifetime warranty on costas is a big plus. Maui is 2 years.

Coasta and Maui Jim are best lenses on the market.

I wear Maui Jim sun readers and love the lenses; the frames, not so much. Prefer Costa for overall quality and ruggedness but like Jimbo I like the Maui lenses.

After cataract surgery and lens implants last year (best money I ever spent on myself), I'm a lot more sensitive to light and I wear them driving even on cloudy/hazy days.

Of course, prior to getting the MJ's my go-to shades were a $15 pair of Foster Grants from like Walgreens. Those things have lasted for many years, fit perfectly and have decent polarized lenses.

Never could find a pair of Costas that I liked but everybody I talk to loves them. I have had a pair of Maui Jims for the past few years. Broke my first pair a year or so ago (the left side of the frame). Went online and filled out the paper work and sent them the necessary amount to fix them. They had changed the style of the model since I had them so they sent me a brand new pair of sunglasses and returned the money that I had sent. They'll have my business for a long time.

I really like my kaenon; Id venture to say better lenses than both Maui and Costa. However, as far as durability and warranty they suck!! Ive seen some of the Oakley fishing glasses, and their not bad.

Costas Customer service sucks badly. I returned my about 5 months ago to get them repaired. Took three months to get them back and then they sent me a Diffrent model of glasses all together. Called them back and they gave me grief about sending them back. I love the glasses but i will never buy another pair for this reason. What good is a lifetime service if the service is crappy?

Sorry you had a bad experience, but I sent mine back and in about 3 weeks they were back and basically were a brand new pair. They even replaced the glass lenses and frame arms and nose piece. All for 12.00.. In my opinion you can't beat it

I have found that it is hit or miss. I have seen them replace stuff that they shouldn't, like a pair that had been run over by a jeep. Really what is covered is coatings on lenses, rubber on frames, hinges on frame, and the like. I am sure they get alot of folks sending in lenses that are cracked from dropping them or examples like the jeep running over them. Technically that is not covered under warranty but I have seen those replaced under warranty too. My opticians always tell folks it is worth the $11 to see what they will do. Worst case they tell you it is not a warranty defect and they offer you a new pair at dealer cost. At least that is our experience. They do not require a proof of purchase on warranty just a date when purchased.

Maui will make you send in a proof of purchase and if it is a day outside of 2 years it is a no go. They are more strict on the manufactures defect than costa as well.

I switched back to Maui Jim because my costa's wore our to quick, yes they would replace what went wrong for 50-80 bucks but it gets old having to do sending them back. I now have a drawer with 5 pair of Costas that need either a nose piece or the arms are worn out. I have yet to have an issue with mine also think the glass in Maui's is better.
