New Truck
New Truck
Well, I've been a Toyota person for years, now on my second Tundra. Any thoughts on the new Silverado's, F-150 or RAM's? Looking for a crew cab 4x4.......current Tundra is a 2wd Double cab........
Open to feedback. With the prices the way they are, I'm not gonna settle.

Re: New Truck
aaahhh..... TUNDRA....
Re: New Truck
I recently bought a 2014 Chevy Z71 crew cab. By far my favorite truck I have owned so far. I just took it on a 1,000 mile trip for Thanksgiving and it drove smooth as can be. It has plenty of hauling power and 4-wheel drive works like a charm. Plenty of the room on the interior.
Re: New Truck
I'm 4000 miles into a 2015 Z71, and it is even better than my previous Chevy trucks. Got it with the 6.2 and I'm getting about 22 on the highway, which is pretty amazing. Mileage drops down with a load, but stays in the high teens. Rides every bit as nice as my wife's Yukon, and has all the on star stuff, including wifi. I'm biased, but it is a good vehicle with good resale historically. Good luck to you whatever way you go.
Re: New Truck
These will be @ dealerships soon so check them out.
2016 Titan XD with 5.0 Cummings Turbo Diesel.
310 HP w/555 ft. lb Torque
12,000 lb towing capacity & 2,000 lb payload.
Gas burners are also available.
The XD was designed for the "week-end warriors".......those that don't always need a 3/4 ton truck, but occasionally needs more than a half ton truck. The "tweener's" so to speak.
The half ton will launch later next year if you do not need the XD. We even make in Crimson Turd color. You could put one of those Big booty A's on the back glass & a big elephant on the rear doors and be the talk of T-Town

blaaaaa....
Re: New Truck
I have tweener truck.. Chevy 1500 HD.. 3/4 ton chassis with 6.0L V8. I wish they still made them...
The Titan XD looks interesting.. But as the son of a Mechanic that owned his own business for over 30 years. I tend to stick with the Chevy. They tend to ride better than the Fords.. At least my 10 year old Chevy does.. Hadn't ridden in many new trucks lately though..

My buddy Eric (Eng Mgr) had one pimping it around the other day from the plant. That thing was bright YELLOW with the off road package. He kept getting stopped everywhere he went with people asking questions.eSJay wrote:These will be @ dealerships soon so check them out.

Re: New Truck
Got a Z71 crewcab yesterday. Hopefully, will like it better than the Tundra.
Re: New Truck
Just out of curiosity, what was wrong with the Tundra?
At times there is not a satisfactory substitute for well-aimed lead going down range at high velocity.

Hey EsJay - Crimson is King.... And, not a Cummings, but a Cummins.

Re: New Truck
I bought a new Ram Laramie this spring and really like it. It's fully loaded and it's very cush. I have only a couple minor gripes, but nothing major when you factor in how great of a deal I got on it versus a Tundra / Z71 / F150 equally equipped. The price on the Ram's simply can't be beat. Plus a 5 year / 100k mile drive-train warranty, and the 400hp Hemi is a beast that also gets over 20mpg's hwy cruising around 75mph.
Re: New Truck
Nothing mechanically or performance wise, but a 2wd and only double cab. Kids getting bigger and wanted a 4x4. That was my 2nd Tundra, so this is a change. Already not liking the AFM, cylinder deactivation, but other than that, initial impressions are good.iron grip wrote:Just out of curiosity, what was wrong with the Tundra?
Re: New Truck
I believe there is a delete option for AFM that folks are using to turn it of in the computer. It will also fix the oil burn issues AFM causes supposedly. Would prob void the warranty thoughskywalker wrote:Nothing mechanically or performance wise, but a 2wd and only double cab. Kids getting bigger and wanted a 4x4.
