Can anyone tell me what prop I need..16x51 boat, the new 3 hole Suzuki, came with a 10 pitch on it.. Didn't even get through the break in on the motor before that jap pot metal piece of shat prop they put on it got bent and pretty much useless!
Trying to go stainless but don't want to go through 4-5 props getting it all set up just right.. I hear the etec and this motor use the same prop

If you are in the metro area I would recommend buying from propellor service if they are still in business.
If whatever he recommends is not right, he can adjust the pitch to get it right. (Within reason)

Re: Prop gurus
need an rpm gauge before we start talking what pitch. a 25 on a 1651 is asking a lot too. I would say probably a 13 pitch
Re: Prop gurus
never mind you didn't state what hp the motor was. What hp is the motor???
Re: Prop gurus
it is a 25.. It is a pretty strong motor, just havent got to see exactly what it would do due to me tearing the prop up before i could go over 1/2 throttle! It came with a 10 pitch.. Putting a tiny tach on and I believe white river outdoors over in augusta has a wide range of props that he lets you "try before you buy" as long as you dont tear em up!

Re: Prop gurus
Like others have said, its hard to say without a tach. I have a 1546 with a 3 hole 25 and 13p works best for me. I would guess 12 or 13 would be your best bet.

Re: Prop gurus
to be honest with a boat that size don't expect getting close to 30
Re: Prop gurus
I am no speed demon.. Just need something to get me in the woods and back.. They are playing with the computer on this motor already and I have heard that theyre cranking 40 hp out of em.. Dont know if that is true or not.hntrpat1 wrote:to be honest with a boat that size don't expect getting close to 30
