Anybody shopped ATVs lately?
Is Lakehill in Corinth still the best deal?
I guess it's them, Desoto or Big Delta. Opinions?

You don't pay sales tax out of state...that's an automatic 7% off ( I think sales tax is 7%??)
So to actually match the price, they have to be cheaper by the sales tax

Ohhhhh but you will when the State of MS audits their books. You're going to pay sales tax, either up front or at the end.

You are right about that! It may be 2-3yrs latter but they will get it plus possible penalties & interest.

Who's books get audited? How does the State of MS, or any other State, know you have a 4-wheeler, tractor, or anything you bought out of state unless you have to register it, like a vehicle, or trailer or boat or something????

Re: Anybody shopped ATVs lately?
Out of state dealer books can and will get audited at some point. Union City ATV in TN used to be the best deal around til they got reported for all of their OOS sales and had their books audited. Everyone got backcharged taxes and fees.
Re: Anybody shopped ATVs lately?
Its not the individual who purchased the product who gets audited. It will be the dealer who will get audited and they will have all the paperwork showing you didnt pay sales tax. When you purchase the atv out of state they are not required to charge you sales tax, it is your responsibility to pay it when you bring it back into Mississippi. So, once they get audited (and they will get audited now days cause they have caught on to it) and see you didnt pay the tax, you will get hit with the sales tax plus penalty and interest.420 racin wrote:Who's books get audited? I called all over Louisiana, Alabama, florida, and finally got the absolute best price in laurel....You won't get out of the sales tax deal either....to get insurance you have to have the title registered. One way or the other the state will wind up getting the money....if you have a trade in I believe you only pay on what's paid out of pocket...may be wrong though

Just a heads up if you try to contact the Laurel store...they are no longer in business. Shut the doors a few weeks back.
Re: Anybody shopped ATVs lately?
If you buy new out of state MS will find out. And you will be sent a bill. I bought several used bikes already titled from a dealer and never got a bill from MS. I just had a TN title in the original purchaser name. And sold the bike the same way.
Just saying.
