Bragging, Hot air, or Advertising???

Postby CaptnT » Wed Jan 02, 2002 9:15 am

Damn Dog, you act a little hot under the collar. You must not be shooting any ducks either.

I hunted Saturday, Sunday, and Tuesday in NW MS, and while I didn't limit out, I did have good days. Seems like the birds are coming in small flocks, you have to be patient. Most of the birds I saw were EXTREMELY call shy, and I got them in with a good ol' drake grunt.

I did see a HUGH flock of ducks working a hole off a creek arm, not river arm, as stated here in another thread. It made me think about that post, as I watched thousands of ducks work an area that I have never seen them do. All this water has changed things dramatically. There are few ducks in the central flyway that have seen these conditions here. You can't go to your favorite spot, that now has 15 feet of water where there is usually 2 and expect the ducks to want to come in there. The ducks are looking for food first, then shelter. Find one of those areas and you will have a little luck.

Good luck and Happy Hunting!

Obviously you're refering to Torch and No Angel.

I believe what these guys say. Although I don't live in Mississippi, it sounds like the ducks are spotty, especially with the weather we've all been having. Another reason I believe them is because of a few other posts on here refering to the same general area where these birds are located. I guess more people do their homework than others.

As far as free advertising-sure they might pick up a few customers off this forum. But I don't think these guys are boasting to take some business in, but rather to prove what they'll do to find the ducks and to help others on this forum. I've hunted with these guys, and they aren't a bunch of yahoos full of crap. They'll do anything to find some good hunting.

Anyway who cares? Are they taking your business Dutch Dog? I'd be out trying to find some ducks rather than complaining about hot air or bragging.

Just my 2 cents.

I also guide duck hunts and hunt with friends also. When I get a call from someone wanting to go hunting, if we don't have any ducks, that's what I'm gonna tell the person calling. Im not in this to get rich i just wanna use the resources I have available to pay for my expenses on food, wells, lodge and blinds.

hey dutch dog i dont who u are intending ur post too. but i can tell u one thing me and my stepdad hunted with torch last year and i know he speaks the truth. he told us they had been having unblelvable hunts and it was the best hunt i have ever had in my life . we literally had ducks coming in as soon as u could reload your gun and he had pictures of ducks they had killed from the same hole and it was unbleivable. if he says he saw 10,000 ducks in one hole i believe him 100% and i would advise anyone that wants an awesome hunt thats ur man. he speaks the truth believe me it was the best hunt i have ever had

not brag just facts. we had a hell of a time finding these ducks and keeping track of them. we would do good for two days and they would move. i will do better than take a picture, you come down since you aren't killing any and we will ride and you can see !! we have had days we did not fire a shot but that is when we had a full moon and they were moving on us. i would get the jeep and ride or get the boat and ride all day til i found them. i don't need free places to get customers because enough people on this board have been with us to know we aren't like some people and make big promises. i go to the ducks and don't get upset when i ain't killing them like some people on this site.
#2) if we don't kill ducks then we usuallly don't charge. i took 3 guys the others day and we had to hunt the fields to put thier day in something easy. we did not fire a shot and we did not charge but we had fun. when the guys left they tried to make us take something for our time but i insisted they save it for next time because i want everyone to be happy. i try and make a tremendous effort to make customers happy not many people do that.
#3) name one place that doesn't make you pay upfront or as soon as you arrive. ( besides us) i thought so!! we are not in it for riches but it pays for gas and equipment and leases!!! at 125 a gun you can hunt with us for 2 full days as compared to one morning or evening with the others! if we don't kill ducks in the a.m. we go that afternoon and we don't say oh well they just aren't here thanks for your money. duck commander was sent to us last year after hunting with another service near us and they killed 2 ducks that morning for 400 bucks with them. we took them in since they had not done any good and showed them what it was really like!!!!!! hot rod came with a group last year and couldn't believe that we were going to kill only greenhead 1st then fill our limits with gadwalls or pintails to end the day early. this was not a one day thing either. hot rod and his group stayed for 5 days and we did the same thing everyday!!!!!!!!!!!! we went in one day at 1:30 and had 9 people limited out before 4:30 so call us what you want and i can only say one word "jealous!"
enough of the soap opera stuff i gotta get up at 4 to go to Slaughter to hunt next to fightin bayou again today after we limited out today. dutch you need to get a clue or find a new hobby because i have always been sucessful and love to do this and you can't do anything but get pointers from me!!!! hell if you get a new attitude we might even let you in for a free one just to shut you up!

Iv never met torch or Shelby/Noangel but I personally believe they are telling the truth. It seems to me that they spend a great deal of time and money to locate the birds every day. Not alot of hunters are willing to do that. Maybe alot of guides dont have the amount of land they have available to provide alternative spots. I would hunt with them because they seem to be very resourcefull, enthusiastic and honest. Robbie

I don't know No Angel but, I do know Torch. Like I have been known to do once in a while he can stretch an inch into a foot. What I do know IMO is, he is not a liar. I have hunted with him before (not on a guided deal)and we killed some ducks. I hunt a fair amount and have seen a lot of birds but, on one particular morning (Torch was the designated caller) I saw as many if not more ducks than I have before. If he's saying he's seing birds odds are he's seeing birds. Just my $.02.

TAKE ME, TAKE ME I really would like to see 10,000 DUCKS. I have seen a hundred this year, but it was on someone else's land. I will be in Webb Sun. 6. I will not bring a gun! The last time I saw thousands of ducks was in Fulton, MS,( Bull Mountain Bottom)2 years ago. I will bring a gun and a camera if you let me.
THANKS,

we hunted a spot by fighting bayou and we killed 5 this a.m. went home and rode and foud them in a flooded field next us. we could not hunt them but it had several thousand pour in it at 5:00 and they were many pourng in after we left. it is wierd that there are just a big group of ducks moving very little and sticking to one area. i would be happy to show them to whoever just email us and we are not but 20 minutes from webb. we can go anytime of day but around dark is the best time. we are going to set up next to them in the morning and hope they give us an oportunity to kill!
on another subject, the snow is going to cover up illinois sat and we need that to put the food under snow so the rest of the ducks will move down. the reports are saying ducks are just sitting there eating but snow will move them out.
