Geez
... Ida pissed my pants

All I know is... A wise rooster don't bury his head when a chicken hawk is around...he keeps his eyes on his chickens

I understand where you're coming from with the perspective thing but unless that guy has tiny hands, the head of that snake is very large. Larger than most I've killed and seen around here. He may not be 8ft but he may be knockin...

Re: Now, THIS is a rattler.....
I showed the pic to a friend that I knew had grown up around that area....here is what he said about it:
"""Sugarloaf Mountain and Poteau Mountain back up to Hartford, and both are mountains that smart people don't go up on too much outside of winter. Up past the 'first bench' is where the the rattlers live. I've hiked to the top of both mountains in summer when I was thirteen or so, but you wouldn't catch me up there today."""

Re: Now, THIS is a rattler.....
Big snake, and certainly a prime example of how big they can get, but I would guess (and guess is all you can do when someone long arms them with a stick) that the snake is 6' long at best. A 5' long rattlesnake will have a head as big as your fist.
When the article title is "killer rattler" and they quote a pet store owner as their "expert" source, it makes the entire article dubious.

Re: Now, THIS is a rattler.....

More pics have been posted. Clearly much closer to 6' than the originally stated 8'. Unless of course the gentleman holding it is around 7'6" tall.
The snake easily qualifies as a big booty snake. But not even in the ball park of 8'.
Re: Now, THIS is a rattler.....
True, but if I walked up on that in the swamp I'd swear it was 27' long... and call in an air strike
