Boat/blind/sled thinga-mah-hooky

Postby Smoke68 » Mon Oct 19, 2015 7:24 am

Hey guys,

There's a guy near Ripley making these things. Seems to be exactly what I've been looking for. He says they weight 35-40 lbs. It's 9 ft. end to end, 8 ft. interior length. Has a transom for a small motor. They can be drug, paddled, used for a layout, etc.

Anybody want to jump on this with me? He'll need a deposit, not sure how much. I'm located in Starkville, but I've got family in New Albany so I'll pick them up sometime up there. If you're in N Miss you can get yours without me, but I'd be glad to carry it back to Starkville for you to pick up as well. I'm ordering tomorrow morning.

I put my order about 2 weeks ago. Let me know how it handles. A friend who ordered with me texted the other day asking if I thought it would paddle well. I responded "I don't think so." If anyone comes up with a vessel that is compact, stable, and paddles well, let me know. For me, I give up tracking to get stability and compactness (which contributes to being lightweight). The Final Attack was similar to this but weighed 85 lbs. If it wasn't for the heavy weight, that woulda been what I was looking for.

He was finishing yours up when I was there today. They are very basic fiberglass with epoxy resin type coating. Im 6'3" about 290 so I wont be doing any deep water paddling but he assured me it would be fine. I set it out in the driveway and layed out in it and its really roomy. I'm going to do some designing on how to build a low profile flip open blind. Its really just a fiberglass shell from a mold, not much to it but the multipurpose aspect drew me to it. It really is a simple cross between a sled, layout, neotub and 1 man boat. Light enough that my 6 year old helped me unload it. 35-40 pounds.

Boats are $250 right now. I'm sure that's subject to change as demand increases and the design changes.

No idea on shooting houses.

I have been looking at getting myself a nucanoe or kayak to hunt and fish out of. I wonder if this would be better?

I'm pleased with this thing. My son got to watch a slow, but quality, hunt yesterday morning.
